Heh, given that he has another two books (four if he splits them) to write there's likely to be a far bigger gap once the show catches up in a couple of years.

I've read recently that they had a chat with george r.r martin to talk out an ending incase (highly likley) that he doesnt get the books finished, they dont want him to rush and chrun out books but apparently do have an ending to work towards, think they said they plan for say 7 seasons - could be wrong but they did lay a rough number down for the ammount of seasons they want to run for.

and he already told them all the major story lines ;)

It's also generally understood that the TV series won't follow them. There are increasing differences as time goes on - the outcome of the big fight on TV last night was obviously different to the book version, for example. And it is assumed that the TV people don't want to spoiler the books.

By the Big fight I take it you mean the pub brawl ? You had me worried then I thought I'd missed something exciting like a really BIG fight.. :)

It feels a little slower in pace for me, but saying that, books 5-6? were a lot slower, adding a lot of (imo) unnecessary characters from Dorn, the Kings guard etc etc that made it quite a tough read. Wrapping your mind around so many bit part characters was difficult for me.

Most of the casting is spot on but I'm struggling with two of the new cast.

They've now had two goes at casting Daario and fluffed it twice. Needs more piratey swagger. And a splash of colour in the costume.
The Red Viper is a long way from how I pictured him too. Too stiff. Too guarded. In my mind he was deceptively languid, overconfident but carried a casual menace.

Thumbs up for Indira Varma as Elaria Sand though.

Great start to he series, finally something on TV worth waiting for!

Anyone watch thronecast afterwards? Kinda interesting and they had a sneak peek of next week's episode.

Did anyone else notice that they changed the actor for Daario Naharis. I haven't read the books but I think it is to make him more of a love interest for Daenerys Targaryen.

the sneap peak cut from the episode especially so they could show it on thronecast? or is it different than the regular 4x02 preview ?

I think i need to watch every episode twice and then try for a whole series back to back.

So far ive only seen it once so feel overwhelmed a bit trying to get back with all the storylines after a years break. Its so good to be back though !

I've also listened to the audio books in the past year but to be honest im even more muddled with storylines than i realised :P

Came here specifically to comment on that :D

The new actor is a bit lame... previous dude was much more "edgy". Shame that - maybe he demanded too much money :p

Solid first episode though!

He's been cast to be the lead in the new Transporter film(s), which is a shame. I agree the new one doesn't have that excitement about him.
