*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

I really wish they would release an update to show friends which console you are playing on. It's really annoying me now.

I've missed out on numerous gaming sessions with friends as they invite me, then when I don't join assume I'm busy. I've had to ask them all to text me instead now as I'm often on the PS3 upstairs at the minute.

Not sure if they even have any plans to add this?
Invites show up for me - both for party chat and games. Friends coming on definitely dont so hopefully that next gen feature gets addded soon! :p

I get game invites on my PS3, sent via someones PS4 and messages.
But I don't get Party Chat invites

Just don't see why it can't show up on the friends list that you're playing PS3.

Not a major issue but just another little thing they need to add. The OS on the system is pretty poor in general at the minute but a dozen or so tiny little tweaks could make it much better. It's mainly just usability changes - the core system works fine and is usually very quick.

Won't matter soon though as plenty games on the horizon that I'm interested in.

Rumours have it Drive club may be released on the 12th of June spoiler with details below.
Driveclub still doesn’t have an official release date, but Dell is now sending out emails to customers pegging the launch day on June 12th. The date appeared on the site as well.

That’s definitely an interesting date. It’s not the end or the beginning of a fiscal quarter (which would be the telltale sign of a placeholder), and it matches previous rumors started by the Italian Official PlayStation Magazine that mentioned a possible release in June.

Even more interestingly, June 12th is the last day of E3. The possibility is definitely intriguing, as Sony could use the release of the massively anticipated racing game to draw more attention on its line-up during the show.

Normally E3 is about games that won’t be released for a long while, but having a big first party release right around the corner could definitely help in grabbing the spotlight. Interestingly enough, a very similar initiative was taken with The Last of Us, that released the day after last year’s E3.

The game also recently appeared on Sony’s own rewards site, but was then removed, as the site normally offers only games that have already been released.

Of course we should consider this with a much needed serving of skepticism until Sony makes an official announcement, but the date seems realistic. Will it be real? We’ll have to wait and see.

Its the little things that Sony do lag on - too used it from the PS3, but had assumed the PS4 would be on par on that respect regards UI features. Sure it will get addressed just be nice to get a vague schedule - though I guess what's important to us, could be trivial to them. Hopefully MS performance in that respect makes Sony engage...

You definitely should see party invites pop up

Update on PS4 return to ShopTo

Make sure you send it back with all the original stuff.

I sent the wrong HDMI cable and they won't refund me until they get the original back. (I sent a gold plated one, I had to guess which one came with the console I have X amount of HDMI cables laying around)

Yeah I guess they might have things that they deem as a higher priority. (hopefully media/music playback...wishful thinking).

All in all though, I won't care very much once the games start hitting the shelves regularly but with any luck they get these updates in fairly soon-ish.

Hm that's odd then. I'll check settings on PS3 as maybe I have some privacy setting on there or something (if there is such an option).
.......wait a sec, I think I've sussed it just as I type!!

It's not that party invites don't work and messages do.
Thinking about it, nothing from 2 of my mates comes through at all - and they are not on my PS3 friends list and they never had PS3s. So I likely have it said to friends only messages or something which is why some come through.

Either that or they don't go through to the PS3 because my wife is on the PS4 at the time they send it.

I'll check that later

Ah wait I didnt realise you were talking about the PS3 - unfortunately it just isnt aware of the existence of the PS4 or Vita beyond the messaging system, so at best other than messages you might see game invites as they are basically messages I think...

Will the PS3 ever become more aware of its younger siblings? Dont hold your breath IMHO...

Hey guys,

Any advice on the best place to currently buy a PS4 + PSN?

Cheers

Amazon has stock, infamous second son bundles worth looking at. Tesco direct had voucher codes for first orders meaning you could pick one up for £329 google search that deal, it was posted over on neogaf.

You don't need to buy ps+ with the console, shop around for that.. last time I purchased psn credit from cd keys which worked out a few quid cheaper and added the credit to my psn account and purchased ps+ from the psn store..

I think all PS4 still come with 30 days trial for PS+

Use that then get cheap psn 1 year sub or top up cards from cdkeys.

rp2000

14 days isn't it?

correct, but it only works if you have never used the trial or had psn plus before, it will also auto renew at a very expensive price compared to cdkeys, so i would just buy a cdkeys code anyway straight after starting the trial if you are eligible for one.

lol you plonker you had me thinking I was doing something wrong!! :p

I don't need the PS3 to recognise the PS4 so much and as you say they won't add that now - but when my mates are online on the PS4, then check their friends list then it should tell them I'm on the PS3 so they don't try to invite me.

I didn't use PS4 for 1 month a while back but was on PS3 a lot. Logged into PS4 and it came up with about 30 party chat invites at once.

Won't be so much of an issue when I'm using the PS4 more - but with no media playback I'm on the PS3 90% of the time still as I watch stuff more than I game - unless others are online.
In the meantime they will just have to text me

No you are right - a system identifier against your name should be added to save that bother - easily possible as the PS3 is already aware of non-PS3 systems when it comes to messaging so its all there...

I fully expect to always have a need for my PS3, I use the PlayTV as a PVR and its a decent solution for me...

ps3ud0

PlayTV is so outdated, no HD for one, it's quality is also crap even for SD.

You would honestly be better off buying a cheap youview box for £60-£70 off ebay, although for that kind of money the illegal options offer a lot more.
