depends on the jeans

i cycle in skinny jeans all the time but I only by thin stretchy type ones and theyre super comfy for commuting, wouldnt do more than 10 miles in em though

Getting jeans caught between chain and chainring whilst riding a fixie would not be fun.
It's not too bad. Gives your leg a bit of a yank and at worst rips a bit off the bottom. You'll be surprised how much stronger your shin is than your jeans :p

Worse than that was when I was packing bigger gearing and a heavy back wheel on one of my bikes and for some reason I twisted my foot in the toeclip and the back of my shoe went into the chainring. That nearly bit a big chunk off the back of my shoe

I can see I'm fighting a losing battle here with the trouser roller-uppers but I have never in years of cycling caught my jeans between my chain and chainring!
Your flares aren't big enough then. Go back to Gap and try harder ;)

To be fair, it is only boot cut or flared jeans I've managed to get tangled up in the chain or caught on a cotter pin. Cotter pins are a much bigger hazard IMO.

Swrve also do fixie jeans with a reflective panel inside the right leg and reflexive belt loops.

Much better value at £80.

Levi's commuters are good too.

Ah, just checked and it's because I have the Cordura Regular Fit ones. That would explain why they aren't skinny.

Not many folks make a 30" waist with a 34" leg so they are full of win.

All my trousers are the other way round :p Curse my tiny legs!

Need a couple of cheap tops for the better weather - going to give one of these rumble - for the sake of £15 or something - it's going to be cheap copies but hey ho

My 2 tops have arrived today from China. Quick postage.

A quick look at them - will try them on later - and very impressive. Material is a good quality, zip seems fine, all the logo's match up nice, stitching looks good. Will check sizing later but for basically £12 each including postage they look perfect for the better weather. Pictures to follow later.

Looks a bargain!

Are they race fit? And do they have the longer, fitted sleeve?

28" waist and 30" inside leg are hard to find as well.

I need a 36 leg ideally and 36 waist, although my waist is only 34 inches I find the crotch/thigh on 34 far to tight for a tall bloke and my bits feel cramped :Z
I guess they just scale the measurements up without taking into account a taller persons body will have different proportions :(

btw this time last year I needed a 38inch waist :D

Anyone used these brake blocks? I'm guessing they're the standard shimano ones that come with any new shimano brakes, in which case the answer is probably that we've all used them at one time or another. I've used kool stops before now, but this is a very good price for 4 blocks.

8 for £8ish! done a 2k miles on them and I love them :) did try all the usual before and none of them match these, the wear might be a little higher(50-70miles quicker than others) but the braking performance is great.

and the price.. oh the price.

wut

£1ish per pad? Blimey. Well, I've ordered some kool stops for this time round, but I'll definitely keep those in mind. What's the significance of the red compound? Is that like the kool stop salmons - better for in the wet?

my brother has a set of those pads in black(2quid cheaper) and he said there's no difference but looking at the descriptions(not on ebay listing) the red is meant to be better in WET and I found them to work great in both wet and dry..

the official site lol! they do work and they cost peanuts and I personally try and safe as much as I can when it comes to consumables - I won't use rubbish products but these work just as well/better as the more expensive pads.

If your legs are still sore from today, dont do a zone3 ride tomorrow.
A short, easy ride would be better to help recover. Maybe once round your village lap.

Did exactly that today

although legs felt ok, I thought doing it would help anyway

so going back to yesterdays ride, I did 3 hours 11 mins, after reading an article at work today (on my phone) they seem to suggest that because my intensity wasn't moderate to high, I don't need a lot of fuel, so I don't think fuelling was the issue (I felt like I was going to bonk 5 miles from home though)

but if you read up about fuelling, no one ever says anything about lack of fitness, and in my case, I think its just lack of fitness, I actually feel worse this year than last, and last year was my first summer with a road bike (I bought my bike November 2012 I think)

I haven't even done a proper ride this year lol...
I've done a few 5-10 miles locally and felt totally fine but I'm not looking forward to my first 25 miles or so proper ride pushing my self
