Who owns a 350z/370z?

Is there anything to be particularly worried about with regard to high mileage 350Zs? I've seen a 2007 313 GT with 89,000 miles for £9k - not sure whether it's particularly good value or not. Looks in half decent condition but obviously you never really know until you see it in person.

Surely depends how those miles were achieved.

I wouldn't be too concerned but like any car (especially higher performance cars) it needs to have been looked after. I would expect proof of services, decent brand tyres and plenty of invoices for replacement ones as they will have had to go through several.

Also keep an eye on crunchy gears and the clutch if it hasn't been replaced is probably not far off so make sure it doesn't slip.

I wouldn't be concerned on mileage as much as overall condition and how well it has been looked after. 1k miles of chav town driving 20k after a service is due is going to be far more damaging than 10k miles motorway commuting with proper servicing.

Well I've now done 600 miles in 4 days, most of which fairly near the limiter and bounced over enough welsh bumps in and around Snowdonia to be fairly happy I can live without the lower engine tray. I'd been getting a little disappointed by the Z as I hadn't been driving it much but with a few days off work a quick blast into Wales really was enjoyable, such a capable car for both cruising and blasting :)

Went to see another 350z today having decided I'd like one as my next car. After driving one the other week I just loved how it felt and that wave of V6 torque is addictive.

It was up for £5500 with 79k on the clock, due a service and tax...

The car drove fine and felt great but a few bits let it down which has kinda put me off as my Boxster is such good condition in comparison and I would be part ex.

The guy has pretty much offered me £3600 for my car which is quite a bit over what I paid anyway but just curious if what he is asking is a fair price.

79k 2004 (04) 350z and he is asking £5500, am I at the bottom of the market here?

Can I get more for the money?

That is pretty good tbh, mine was 2005 with 69k one owner for £7400 18 months ago

You currently have a Boxster? Isn't that a bit of a sideways step to a 350? When I bought my I preferred the Boxster S I tested in many ways to the Z, but took what I thought would be the slightly more sensible option!

My problem is.. my boxster is absolutely immaculate

The interior had a few scuffs around the middle console / tray, the door handles a bit scuffed and a few scratches around the bodywork which I could sort I suppose and theres no signs of the clutch change yet but it felt fine tbh.

Also I'm driving the 2.5 Boxster so a fair bit slower.

I'd keep the Boxster tbh, I'm surprised you were only offered £3600 - you could surely make far more private selling.

I know what you're saying the Boxster is a fantastic car but I just love the idea of the power in the 350 and the sound / looks.

Edit : I should also add I'm driving the 2.5 Tiptronic which is the 986 model.

Proud new 350z owner reporting in!

After this thread, I picked up a 350z yesterday.

Alloys, door handles and boot strut are painted in pearlescent Audi gunmetal by the previous owner, which I have to say I really like. He, like me, wanted to customise it a little without modifying it. I would be tempted with black alloys, but can't justify the cost or insurance hassles, so this is a nice compromise.

It has full service history to 48k miles, so the last 27k is a little unknown, so I still have some concerns about the recent servicing, especially given the "big one" at 72k/75k...

As far as I can tell, it has a new:

  • clutch (it gave way days before I bought it, although the previous owner didn't do the flywheel
  • spark plugs
  • front engine belts
  • stainless steel exhaust box

But so far, the wheels turn round when I put my foot down, so it seems OK...

:P

I'm surprised how "heavy" or "solid" it feels - I think I was expecting it to feel light and nimble. Instead it just feels like a tank on steroids! Mind you, this is coming from a ~900kg Lupo 1.0e...

I think I love the engine noise most - always wanted a V6 and now I have one!

Is it worth getting it serviced with Nissan from now on or will that just be unnecessary cost?

Why would you be worried with black alloys when the colour you have bought is non standard anyway? looks like a nice car, 350z is anything but light and nimble, I fear you have bought one without doing any research before buying?

If I bought alloys, they would be non-standard and need declaring on the insurance policy. I would imagine this would limit the number of insurers as well as affecting the premium.

As for doing research - I didn't buy it because I wanted light & nimble. I bought it because, for me, it's one of the best V6 cars in my price range. Coming from a 900kg Lupo with 50 bhp, anything is going to feel "solid" or "heavy" in comparison!

:D

Not a fan of that colour, and the brown leather looks a bit meh in photo's, not sure what its like in person.

Has yours got the GT pack?

Yup - GT pack.

For me, this was the only colour to get and the matching leather was the icing on the cake! It's orange rather than brown.

Jimbo, car is lovely!

Ring your insurance and ask, you might only have to pay an admin fee (around £25) to add it to your policy.

I'd do a P3 service ASAP. I go to a local independent Nissan specialist (significantly cheaper than Nissan) but you're in Belfast so can't really help you there I'm afraid!

I'm not a fan of the alloys (I love my Rays too much!) or colour - but if you like it that's all that matters.

Sunset orange is a standard colour - and it can look amazing, but I'm sorry to say that Azure blue is the best ;)

It is a heavy car, but the drive train is great, and it has very good grip and is very predictable handling wise. I personally think a lighter flywheel and an uprev remap makes it that little bit more complete - but you need to do what you want.

Enjoy it and welcome to the Zed club! :D

Sign up the 350z forums lots of good advice and great people there. :)
