Despite all of things I thought were poor about this episode, I did like the way the NW story-line is being developed, apart from the Thenns, and The Mereen scene was quite good too and sets things up decently. Also, one positive change is with Daario. Like many, I couldn't stand him from the books, but he has been changed for the better in the show. I love Strong Belwas, but he is ultimately dispensable, and it is totally understandable that he has been replaced.
Arya/Hound is ok, but they have basically been doing the same thing for 4-5 episodes now. Surely they won't pad it out anymore.
PS. Anyone else notice that in the Dragonstone scene they seem to be talking really quickly?...like it was sped up or something!
Edit- Also, Tyrion had a great line, something like 'Cersei is the only person I am sure is not responsible for Joffrey's murder...which makes it unique so far as murders in Kings Landing go"

Wasn't that enamoured myself with last night episode. Almost felt like an anticlimax after last weeks blinder.
You can't really tell.
We know they are in love, but you can tell she's not consenting to it. But its not entirely clear why she's not consenting and everybody will read that situation differently.
I wasn't actually spoiling anything per see. I haven't said that something will or won't happen, just given a time frame for how long her story arch goes on for. I referenced her desire to reach westeros, and unleash the dragons and take the kingdom back. But this isn't even in the books yet so its not a spoiler, its me talking about what she has already said many episodes ago she wants to do. We're just going to have to wait a while to find that out. Which is why some are disappointed at how little her arch of the story progressed this week.

We've seen martin is willing to change things in the TV series, who knows, we may even see her reach westeros sooner in the TV series than in the book. The demand to see her unleash her dragons on her enemies from the TV viewing public is going to be quite large.

it is just very poorly written and directed, as I'm afraid is much of it imo. I mean it has to be one of the most poorly handled scenes I have ever seen. I read an interview where the guy who directed it says that it 'becomes consensual by the end'....Unbelievable!
why not just follow exactly how it is in the books and avoid all this?!
The direction and pacing just seem lackluster to me in general tbh. I get the sense that they are just 'going through the motions' so to speak. A marked decline since the great first season, which I thought was excellent all round

I agree on that scene, I can see the grabbing of the velvet was meant to show she was enjoying and griping in by the end, but it was so poorly handled. It was a rape scene, rather than a ravenous sex scene, which is where it was in the book, and where I think they actually wanted it to be, but all of a sudden they have taken the transforming Jamie, and made him a rapist in the publics eyes, even if that was not their intent.
It was very poor direction.
They can do better than that!
That is all it would have taken to avoid this!
It isn't the first time they have done this to Jaime though. There is also the awful scene in season 2 where he kills his cousin(or someone) for no reason. It is like they think that to portray someone as a 'grey' character means to show them doing one really good thing and then one really bad thing, with no relation. Have Jaime save Brienne from rape, and give a little speech on how abhorrent it is - have him rape his sister. He isn't grey, he is just a psycho!
The fact that she said "It's not right" kind of gave me that impression seeing as she was crying over her dead sons body 30 seconds before.

judging by whats coming out now in the press, I think that is what was intended.
but it's been misinterpreted. Hardly surprising given cersei's lack of interaction. If they had kept her dialogue in where she eggs him on, it would have been much clearer, that it was consensual, but she was reluctant due to the place.

Regarding the Cercei & Jamie thing. She was fine kissing him until he tried to put his new hand near her face and she recoiled from it.. I think he was a little miffed at that

So she refused to give consent... want to know what the word for penetrative sex without consent?
I wasn't meaning it as in it wasn't rape, more that it wasn't particularly well done, up until he started proper forcing himself on her she was kissing him and just saying "It's not right" which is quite easily interpreted as not wanting to hide the sausage whilst her dead son lies next to them

No I don't, perhaps you'd like to blather in a thread somewhere on GD where herp derp can call everyone a rape apologist again.
What people are discussing here is either a terrible piece of directing, or a major departure from the book in terms of a specific scene, and while there have been many such departures from the book previously, I don't see how adding a rape scene, when in book it was willingly consensual actually further either of the characters involved.
I am still thinking it was terrible direction, or misinterpreting of the scene by a scriptwriter/director.
