Powerful Cooling

do you have to heat them up to cure them? I remember the indigo pads

im only hitting 70c max ibt stress with d14 cooler 4.5ghz and 1.344v
think they need a couple of burn in runs with the cpu at 80c to activate properly. Remember reading an article on tomshardware about theese pads when researching lq pro/ultra.

Interesting. I've never seen one of those before. I will consider trying that depending on how i get on with the H110.

Use the H110 stock paste, it's great.

My H100i paste is too.

Edit: googling tells its very unsafe and hard to get an AMD processor to burn in the pad. The combined temp of the IHS must be 80c, so the cores must be north of that.

As a comparison, my 4670k combined temp is around 79c while the cores are 88c, so that'd destroy some CPU's already. Luckily this one can take up to 94 for a while.

OcuK shipped my H110 just now. That's odd as i only ordered about an hour and 10 minutes ago. Sweet. Going to have to take the hit on postage to DSR the Phanteks though.

When I first put my Phanteks in ( not using stock fans) I was getting idle temps of around 32c....so I changed from using Arctic Silver to Arctic Silver Céramique 2...and now have idle temps of around 27c...although I dont do any stress testing or run any OCs

3c drop on idle could well be a 3c drop in ambient temp :D Same goes for all forms of temp measurement, unless you take ambient before/after testing different coolers its pretty much pointless.

I use MX-4 for everything, CLU if i have a delidded chip mind ;)

Yeah ambients play a part for sure. I use Gelid personally. Well my H110 will be here tomorrow so i will update the thread once its arrived and installed. I'm sick to the teeth of changing parts now with my computer. I just want to play games and watch hardcore porn.

You need to get yourself a porn computer, its a backup encase your main computer is down ;) Some people name them HTPC.

If im feeling daring or i want to have the thrill of possibly getting i caught i use the girlfriends computer. She thinks Bangkok Chick Boys is a Japanese horror film. :p

id use the clu on the ihs as well Tone, way better than mx4. Does stain a bit though.

Well the H110 arrived. Nice piece of kit, easy to put together. Temps are near enough identical to the H100i i sent back so back to square one lol. At least it works a lot better than the Phanteks cooler did though.

I snapped some pics of the Phanteks contact with my cpu and the H110 in my case.

you shoulda bought the silver arrow:mad::p

the mounting needs to be lower down on the left hand side,so it makes contact better

I see what you mean about the way the paste looks....in fact it looks as mine does , bugger lol

Got a pic of that? Its weird but probably explains the large variance i get in core temps. :(

I think the H110 may be marginally better than the H100i, but theres not a lot in it, a couple of C maybe.

I used the stock applied MX4 paste as well as Corsair apply a consistent and even amount and figured with my cpu it may be wise to use that rather than applying my own blob in the middle.

Well at idle im getting more consistent temps across the cores with the H110, so thats something i suppose. For a few seconds they're all the same, then theres about a 11c difference for a few seconds between the coolest and hottest core, then back to the same temps again. This is back to how it was with the H100i.

Access to the MM??

I have a K2 for sale which was using a single TY-147 instead of the stock fans. It was stunning and kept my 2500k @ 4.5ghz below 50deg.

Only changed to a CLC to tidy the inside of my case :D
