Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

I like Ghosts but I only ever play Hardcore mode.

Things that annoy me...

1) There really needs to be spawn protection or it shouldn't spawn you right in front of an enemy.
2) The pistols are stupidly powerful, in fact in hardcore mode I quite often switch to the pistol when indoors as it fires almost instantaneously and kills in one shot.
3) Quick-scoping should be disabled and aiming with a sniper rifle should take much longer as in real life. If you want to snipe it should require the skills/tactics to go with it i.e. finding good cover. The fact people can run around like loonies and kill someone in a nano second is retarded.

Yup I've shot Sniper Rifles in real life and lifting that up and holding it like an assault rifle while on the move would require a good amount of time before you could realistically aim with any precision.
If you get a bi-pod down then it's different. Both me and my wife as first timers hit all 5 shots at 300 yards within a 2 pence piece but if you remove the bi-pod it's just stupid hard. (they wouldn't let me shoot like that I just tried to hold it like that to get an idea).

On the other hand, it freaked me out how accurate weapons are. My wife, never shot a gun in her life picked up a Desert Eagle, and at around 50 yards put 5 bullets right in the middle of the head and that's not the easiest gun to shoot.

Anyway...point is the guns need major balancing changes IMO before this game was playable.

COD will have to do something special to get us away from Battlefield now so it'll be interesting to see what they do with it that's for sure

Which is my whole problem with sniping in COD. I've no problem with them being a OHK but you should have to stop moving and line your shot up properly first.

Exactly, it should take skill.

COD for some weird reason thought that it'd be good to have a Sniper Rifle be a better close quarters weapon than wepaons designed for such situations.

Haven't played since BO1 but honestly I never found there was any point of using a weapon other than a Sniper Rifle. It seemed to win out in every single situation.

The whole point is that they are immense with a bi-pod but you lose mobility. On the move, they are useless against another other weapon type.

Fix that, stick it on a new engine, go back to more standard kill streaks and design some more imaginative maps and it could be a good game again. I love BF and I doubt COD will ever get me to go back, but it could offer a different style if I want a break from the objective based squad gameplay.
We'll see what they do

Apparently next gen first, but not next gen only.

no word of what engine it uses though. Is COD 2014 using the brand new engine ?

I actually prefer MW2 to MW1. It plays a lot better. It was just all the silliness - OP killstreaks, OMA+Danger Close, Commando etc - that spoiled it a bit.

MW2 could have been amazing if they had just introduced a balance patch that removed the stupid stuff like the commando knife lunge, stackable kill streaks, danger close, one man army etc..

MW2 with a balance patch, ported on next gen would sell like hot cakes and all the COD fans would love it. They'll never make it however.

I suspect it's the same engine. It's more likely treyarchs effort will be a new engine, or whoever gets the full 3 years.

Sledgehammer will have had 3 years to make this years game but I suspect you're right about Treyarch. By next year most players will have moved on to PS4/X1 so that's when we'll see a new engine. I doubt we'll get one until they say "this years COD is new gen only".
Money talks and unfortunately they can't ignore all the people that will still be playing this years game on the PS3 or 360.

Been playing Ghosts recently to get my COD fix which other online games just don't provide. Was thinking the same thing about porting any of the previous cods to the xbone would be so good. Ghosts just isn't my cup of tea. MW3 was better for me and that was largely derided by the masses!

I couldn't disagree more. The unbalanced stuff like commando and danger close made the game so much more fun mostly because the daft stuff traded off against each other.

To be honest give me MW2 with some more maps and kill confirmed and that would be enough.

Yeah, I think mw3 had better maps than blops 2 and ghosts for sure. Blops2 was saved by the dlc maps which were the reskinned blops1 maps!!'
