Adventure mode until lvl 68ish then Act V to get to lvl 70 before Malthael so you'll get a legendary drop.

He won't be able to do adventure mode until he's got a character to level 70, otherwise this would be an excellent plan :)

If I could go back and do it again I'd just play west march (first part of act v) over and over, starting on torment 1 and turning down the difficulty as things got tough until I hit level 70, though this would slightly undermine the enjoyment of the new act.

It will probably be best to just play it on as hard a difficulty as you can manage comfortably. If you complete it at level 65 on normal, fair enough. If you find yourself in pandemonium fortress at level 68 or 69, I'd definitely replay earlier acts till I got to 70 before killing malthael for the guaranteed legendary.

Was wondering if there a ocuk community group within db3? Wouldnt mind meeting up and grouping with others for rifts runs etc?

What are peoples thoughts on the best way to level from 60-70? Should i just dive straight into the new campaign?

Use a little trick from act1 (wretched mothers) quest, lvl up to 70 in about 40-45min, grab some nice yellow weapon+green gem, set the game at master or torment 1 and start collecting legs ;] off course some bounty to gear up if needed.

As an aside, what are you Wizards playing now? I feel like my Frost Orb build has lost potency. Might just be me but it feels off. I'm at 890k DPS so should i be looking at something else now?

Fire. Everything burns well. I either mirrorball for T3+ and 18M dot ticks or sub T2 use the Fire set source and wave of force crit for 18-22M. I run at around 1.2M buffed with +86%-+105% fire depending on gear, a lot of it un-optimised because I'm too tight to re-roll it :)

If you actually made a point rather than trying to be a dick, I might be able to address it. Why would the game not have any replay ability if you had an offline mode that was admittedly properly written rather than just shoved in to appease people unhappy with the crap servers?

Im not trying to be a dick but just like every time a disagreement happens on this forum people just ignore huge sections of the post they're arguing against. I wrote my point quite clearly in almost identical sentences in two different posts and both times that sentence was ignored by both people arguing against it.

But for the sake of clarity, here it is once more.

In D2, Blizzard included an offline mode. In that mode, it was impossible to play the game as it was played by 90% of people then and now, as it was impossible to replay quests. Once you'd played through the game, the game was complete and the only progression was to then enter Open Bnet which was... imperfect.

As a result, and despite the protests of that other guy, in my experience most people played on the Blizzard servers, as THAT is the mode that made the game the item grind it is. It allowed replaying bosses, re-running whatever sections you wanted until you got the drops you wanted.

It didn't exist in offline mode.

Also i will expand on why this affects D3, which i hadnt included before.
There is a reason they wont add it to D3. Because when you have an offline game the character information is saved on the End Users machine, not server side. That means it can be found and edited, as evidenced by the thousands of D2 Character Trainers, leading to the uselessness of Open Bnet that i previously referenced. Even if they DID make offline mode identical to Online, people wouldn't play it repetitively because whats the point? Why spend hours and hours grinding when you can spend seconds editing the character info on your computer.

And that's pretty much it. As i said before, Offline Mode in D2 is a a working model of why it would fail. It either wouldnt allow the grind, as in D2, or if it did it'd be redundant.

Been a bit since I found an upgrade - then got a witching hour drop today - nice big boost in dps (although I lost a whole heap of survivabilty - 450 vit and 15% life on the old belt)

So I've never played any of the old Diablo games.

Just in the process of downloading the starter edition.

Any pointers to help me on my way?

Craig

You can hold the mouse down to move rather than clicking. I do not do this and have never done this but apparently it annoys the absolute **** out of my friends on Skype :D, so yeh, you can chose to annoy people with constant mouse clicks or not :D.

Haha I dont blame them. The thing is, that makes no sense!. Holding it down is simply better. There isn't an argument in favour of clicking. AT ALL! lol.

I know right! :D. It is just something I do, I have always done and will probably always do haha.

I get shouted at all the freaking time for it, or used to :D. When the game first came out a group of us played almost none stop until we had completed it (and played it to death) and my friends said they could hear clicking constantly in their heads for a long time afterwards :D.

Currently the %dmg mod on weapons only applies to the 'black' damage on the weapon, not any elemental damage. This means non black weapons are not getting the full benefit of the %dmg mod.

The fix will be to apply the %dmg after the elemental damage on the weapon has been factored.

By elemental damage we mean the one that says something like 1003-1368 arcane damage for example

Ah right. Cheers.

Anyone know where the cheapest place to buy this would be atm (digital)? Would need base game and RoS so either a bundle or individual works, I've found cdkeys.com to have the cheapest RoS @ £18.90 (5% off from "facebook like") and they also have the cheapest base game I've found but it's out of stock

Fair enough - I didn't really address the offline mode because I didn't think it important.

No, that's not really fair - I didn't think it insurmountable. I don't deny that D2's offline mode may have been pants (I honestly don't remember!), but I don't see why Blizzard can't make a proper offline mode with some thought. There's no reason you can't allow resetting/repeating requests in an offline mode, and then its back to the old school method of downloading a patch and installing it when you can rather than streaming it through battlenets patcher.

We'll never see PvP in D3, that'll probably be some method of selling D4 so the game doesn't need protecting/balancing around that.

Having seen how the attempts to balance PvP and PvE in WoW for ten years have never ended up with a satisfying result, I hope PvP stays out of Diablo 3. For once its nice knowing you can play things that are slightly overpowered as its only monsters that are being affected.

Otherwise, future patch notes will be along the lines of:
Cluster arrow, loaded for bear damage has been reduced to 450% (down from 770%)
Slow effect from Blizzard now reduced to 40% and suffers from diminishing returns
The immunity effect from Serenity can now be broken by seismic slam

Etc etc
