Help me pick a car :D

Maybe, but for £3k i would pick reliable and relatively unexciting as opposed to a diesel for 8k miles a year - if i was hoping to avoid any unwanted additional expenditure.

So, Seems all the Golfs around where i live and can get too are sold.

So i'm now Looking @ the following cars as possible ones:
£3000 - Mazda6 TS 2.0L, 0-60: 9.5, Average MGP: 47.1. 200M P/W = £25 P/W in Diesel

£2995 - Ford Fiesta ST 2.0L, 0-60: 7.9, Average MGP: 38.2. 200M P/W = £30 P/W in Petrol

£3300 - Ford Focus 2.0L' TDCi, 0-60: 9.3, Average MPG: 50.4. 200M P/W = £23 P/W in Diesel

Also got my eye on some others but the above three are the ones i like the look of the most.

I'm still looking for a Golf as i would rather one of those.

Any other suggestions?

Do your research is all I would say.

Regarding the 2.0D engine in the Mazda have a quick look as they are reportedly less reliable than the petrol models. I have a 1.8 '05 Mazda 6 and its practically bulletproof.

I only bought mine as I needed a car quick. In 6 months it has had a small top up of oil and a headlight bulb and that is it. Not bad for £1600!

I'm trying too :).

Not easy to find a car around here, there are some nice ones but have too high mileage... and buying a car that's done 140k scares me lol

140k is nothing really but it depends how the miles are put on the car. 140k of cruising motorway at 70mph is a lot better for the car than 140k of stop start town driving. Also depends even more on how it's been maintained.

Oh god that megane. ..

New clutch, gearbox, engine mounts, ball joint, all new disks and pads, Abs sensor... list goes on

Am looking at the swifts

I still don't see how you've managed to spend £2.8k on repairs in 12 months.

Other than the gearbox (I assume the clutch was replaced at the same time due to the gearbox being done), everything else you've listed is basically wear and tear items. Depending on how old the car is, you'd expect to have to replace a lot of that stuff anyway, the clutch included.

And now you've spent the money replacing everything, you're getting rid to buy something else that could require a lot of the same work again in the near future.

And I'm not getting rid of he megane, the wife is driving it to work and I need to buy a car for myself to drive to my new job.

As regards to A deisel, im also looking at 1.6 and 1.8L Petrols, My mums bf has a Nice Mazda3 on his forcourt for £3.5k which after just seeing it looks very nice.

I take it the performance element has been sacrificed then?

Please don't buy an Astra.

Octavia VRs or Golf GTi is where I would spend £4.5k
