Right, my Z2's going back to CPW. There's a massive gap between the chassis and the display.

Seems to be a very common issue so I am hesitant to get another :(

God I'm unlucky.

Tried one out in CPW yesterday. Couldn't see anything that resembles a grid, either via a white background on max brightness, or using the shops display lights.

I think it's safe to assume that some of the earlier releases likely had problems. Good to know what to expect when mine comes from Amazon. If i can see a grid on it, i'll send it back for a replacement.

Maybe CPW and others got the early stock (with the issues), hence why Amazon has delayed shipments?

I also pre-ordered from Amazon and I was probably gonna return the CPW one anyway tbh as I prefer to get things from Amazon (warranty, etc.).

Tbh, you'll probably not see it straight-on. Did you try tilting the display, as that's when you can really see it?

I suspect you're right tbh. I can't believe Sony would let this happen - after all that bragging about improved viewing angles, etc.

Firstly, hello all, short time lurker first time poster.

Funnily enough I was in O2 signing up for a business contract on Friday (to all of those looking for a good sim free deal if you can put the phone through as a business contract then do so they offer far better rates - £25 for unltd. calls, text and 8gb data) and I asked them why they delayed the release of the Z2 when Vodafone had already released theirs. The guy that served me said that actually they hadn’t meant too as they had the order from Sony through and in stock, however, Sony recalled the stock because of various defects. This also ties in with information from a friend of mine who has a position at Sony who said there was a manufacturing issue (not new news I know) that stemmed from Germany. This might then explain why some of the early purchases are defective

Hm yeh i thought something fishy was going on with this release. Places with loads of stock yet not allowed to officially release them...

Maybe the digitiser visible on the screen is one of the defects.

I guess it would add up. I am going to call Clove later on today and see what the situation with them is. Lets hope (or at least I do) they are getting a good batch in this week.

Really they should have just issued a statement and recalled all the defective stock as it is quite obviously some of it is in the wild.
All of these issues prevented me from purchasing one straight away. As a result they have lost a sale because I have time to think and realise I don't need an upgrade just quite yet :)

Come on S3 I'm going to make you work like a slave for a little bit longer!

Seems my order will be sent out on the 9th. Received the email today. Still debating whether to amend for a HTC One M8!

Which vendor is that with?

Still yet to hear any date from Amazon. I emailed them last week and was told their fulfilment team would get back to me within 2 days, 5 days later I emailed again and was told the query will get passed onto their sales team and I should receive a reply within 3 days. It's 3 days tomorrow, and I'm not expecting to receive anything from them.
