ebay problem and getting police involved

I find it amazing that you pay for an item to be delivered to a specific address and that parcelforce don't deliver it there and won't tell you where they delivered it. That's crazy.
 
They are absolutely fobbing you off with that. There's nothing in the DPA to say they can't give you the delivery address of an item that you sent!
 
If a paid a company to deliver something and the took it to a different address I'd be a little bit peeved
 
well just to clear everything up (and for my own sanity) this was the sequence of events

1. Sold Phone and Graphics Card on ebay to seperate people
2. Post Phone to guy who bought the graphics card by mistake
3. Realise my mistake and contact him. He replies saying no problem, want my graphics card asap. Will send phone on for postage money. PayPal him £20. In the meantime I ring parcelforce to see if I can get the phone back before its delivered and get told No!
4. Post Graphics Card to correct buyer

Parcelforce deliver Phone to wrong buyers neighbour
Parcelforce deliver Graphics Card the next day

Buyer suddenly goes quiet. Buyer of phone is understanding, but in the end I give refund as no idea what to do next. Parcelforce won't give me details of where the phone was actual delivered to.

Seller gets himself into a depressed state, hits the vodka, remortgages house and puts equity release all on red....it comes up black. Seller never posts on ocuk again

how can parcel force deliver to the wrong address and not give out any compensation? your parcel was essentially lost due to their mistake

There will be some clause in their T&C's which will let them get away with this. Something everyone will over look and take for granted. It's such a shame. I always sent any valuables fully insured as a matter of peace of mind.

I would raise a compensation claim with Parcelforce stating that the recipient did not receive the parcel.

Surely they then either have to prove that he did (in which case you have your evidence he has it) or compensate you for the value?

Edit: yes it does state in their T&Cs that delivery to any old address they fancy counts as delivery to the correct address, however you could probably argue that is in contravention of:

both in terms of negligence and an unfair exclusion clause.

If you're paying for a delivery service and they deliver it to the wrong address and also wont confirm to you where the parcel is, then surely no 'terms and conditions' will protect them.

Sounds like a case for Watchdog.

I can now see on our tracking that the parcel you are enquiring about was delivered on the 16/04/2014 at 09:26 signed "ECCLES T 17". This indicates that the item was delivered to a neighbour of the original delivery address, as per per delivery terms. Unfortunately due to Data Protection I can not provide you with the delivery address.

If the wrong address has been applied to the parcel and we have successfully delivered to that address (or neighbour in this case) there is nothing that can be done to retrieve your item as this has been delivered correctly.
