living between M'chester & Stoke

I can recommend Trentham. I lived there for a couple of years. It is the Beverly Hills of Stoke :p

Not really close to the train station though, but it is a nice area to live and close to the M6 J15. You will be limited on where to buy for your budget, but rental should not be a problem. We rented a big 3 bed semi for £575 a month from 2009-2011 :)

How many bedroom do you need?

For that budget my first choice would be something in West Heath, though you need to be very careful at the moment, just off Padgbury Lane they have planning in for a new housing estate, quite a few houses (mostly 400k plus) have come on the market due to a link road going in and wrecking the country views, but this can spoil houses of all values due to the roads potential location.

Below would be my prime area to look:

You get a LOT more for you money in Biddulph or Stoke, but that's as expected.

Nice area in parts. Biddulph moor is nicer. It's right next to Knypersley which I recommended when you started this thread.

quite close to Congleton with quick access to the A34 to manchester.

What's Biddulph like?

houses on Rightmove look ok.

About 5 minutes ago I've been reminiscing about a pub I gigged at called Top Of the Trent where we used to bet on which song we'd be playing when we would have to pack up because of fighting. I never played a full gig in 2 years at that pub.

Parts of Buglawton are a bit dodgy. If you look at the long road which snakes from one end to the other - St. Johns Road - the western half of it has a bit of a drug dealing problem at the moment. Eastern half is more upmarket.

In your price range you might get one of the smaller houses on the Daven Road estate - possibly Avon Drive or Bollin Drive. Might just be able to manage 3 bedrooms and a garage there, and it's a nicer estate.

I live outside Manchester, girlfriend lives in Macclesfield. It's really not that bad to drive honestly. It's fair simple from Macc to stoke too. It seems like a nice enough place.
