Don't know about boards, but hear cpu very early june
Boards are may 28th, someone correct me?
Though CPU were 11th May and Asus were gone to break NDA and leak Mobo info on 28th (today)?

Gonna pick up a Gigabyte Z97 and Xeon 1231v3. The Xeon will be a stop gap until 4790K drops in June/July. Then I'll switch over to that and give the Xeon 1231v3 to my boys. That should keep their PC going strong for a few more years yet.

Not really, I like the AMD setup and it's nice having a good mess about trying to get the best from it compared to my previous intel stuff where I just simply upped the multi as high as it would go.
That said benchmarks show i'm being limited, quite badly, by the CPU. I bought the 8320 setup knowing this would be the case to a certain degree and certainly don't regret getting the 8320.
I know benchmarks aren't the be all and end all however even playing BF4 with a single 7990 I notice slow downs. I'm still tweaking this but the extra grunt of the 4790k (and hopefully with the better TIM, the overclocking ability) I might be able to push the 7990s along further.
I'll still be keeping the 8320 no matter what and it will be my office PC where as the intel setup will be my home one.
Tbh I need at least a 6 core Intel CPU but I can't be bothered selling the Gigabyte motherboard and a 3930k and matching 2011 board is out of my price range at the moment

Getting the Xeon to use until the 4790K comes out later on. Then the Xeon will go in my boys PC (their using Pentium dual core atm) so nice upgrade for them. They don't overclock, just want em to have stable PC so the Xeon will be spot on. Basically get i7 performance for i5 price.
Than I'll get the 4790K for my main PC. Hopefully get a decent stable OC from it. I really like that black edition Gigabyte UD5. Def getting that one.

Interesting, wonder if that means that it will have a better OC'ing potential. Suggests that the 4790K could run quite a bit cooler than the 4770K too (although mine runs 24C idle and <50C load anyway 
).

Intel have stated that these have been re-designed for overclocking. So safe to assume they will do better than the older Haswell chips.
Looking forward to trying Z97 / 4790K. Even @ stock if limited to 4Ghz, this thing will be a monster. If cores can turbo over 4Ghz with single core upto 4.4Ghz, this chip really could be a beast.
Got about 4 weeks to wait for 4790K..

I suppose it all depends on what theyve done with the ihs/paste assembly. I suspect, less glue to hold the ihs in place, thinner ihs. Though all this could be pointless if theyve just used the same paste. Ive seen various threads where people have delidded current ib/hw chips and made the mistake of using conventional pastes instead of liquid metal. And in all honesty i dont believe intel would go to the expense of using a paste like this.
