They just can't handle the manly ruggedness of the off roader. All driving about in hair dressers cars and their I couldn't afford the actual bmw I wanted.

I'm starting to dislike the Toyota Hilux as much as the Audi A1 now...

lol. :o

Have another A1 pic... :p

Mazda MX-5 1.8i Arizona

1 owner, 1.8i, LSD, heated leathers, Enkei wheels, full history, fresh MOT which required some suspension work and a couple of other things to pass. Tiny bit of rust which I think isn't bad, chassis looked fine when I got underneath. Front end has a few stone chips but aside from that all good I think.

Perfect weather to have picked up a convertible. I think I should be able to sell on with minimal or no loss in a few months or however long I keep it for.

Intend to give it a minor service, plugs, oils and filters, but aside from that I intend to drive it :)

Does look nice, half of me thinks hairdresser half of me thinks bundle of fun. What was your reason for purchase? Just a nice weather drive around?

Just something to cure some petrol head boredom, plus I wanted to see what the fuss was about. This is actually the first RWD car I've owned which played some part in the decision!

:)

Thanks Muffin, I'm aware, but if the rust hasn't shown itself on the outside of the rails yet then surely you can't check any other way? The outside of the rails seemed clean enough...

Make sure you keep the drain holes clear. Can find them just behind the seatbelt pillars under some carpet. Either a trombone cleaner on ebay or an unbent coat hanger is good.

Worth doing to make sure the rust doesn't get much worse. Trombone cleaner might be better as its less likely to poke holes in any rust!

You should be able to get your hand under the sills and press from the inside. Hopefully it'll feel fairly solid :)

If you're worried, fill the sills with waxoil. If the drain holes are blocked you will hear water sloshing about anyway but worth checking them. There's drain holes close to the front jacking points behind the front wheels too.
