Watch Dogs

I've been using shopto for the last 3 years or so and have yet to not get a game/console on release day. Sometimes earlier. They're not the cheapest anymore - they used to be one of the best price wise - but they get all my orders for games I absolutely must have launch day.

No way would I use shopto for this, their pricing on ps4 isn't even competitive by a long way, I mean £54.95 for watch dogs, they are take the mick! It's cheaper pretty much everywhere else by nearly £10 sometimes more

What worried me the most from that was:

The game has gone to retail stores long before it was proclaimed “gold,” perhaps as an attempt to make it seem like they were working super hard until the very last week. Ubisoft wrote a cute little tweet about “hackers” infiltrating their system. To clarify: the game is about hacking. Not us actually hacking them (come on, did you really believe that?). In essence, they are saying don’t just listen to 1 review – the ‘valid’ reviews start on the 27th (by the people). Though this does not make our review any less valid, Ubisoft.
A lot of people are angry and believe we are playing some magical game, or did insane CG effects, or even played a multiplayer beta where this type of gameplay was not even allowed. They keep asking for the box and denying the footage we have as if it was artificially created yet not saying how, stating the game “just went gold”, “it’s not in retail stores”, “I work for a small reviews site myself and know it’s not out”, etc etc. And yet someone posted their PS4 retail copy today with the box and footage as well making everyone seem like little kids with broken preorder dreams. Ironically, most of these people are fans of the game (go figure). Interesting to hear what all these nay-sayers will say now. But denial is a strong poison. To quell any clear thirsts as all these comments indicate – here is a picture from a story mission on the Xbox One. It is the exact same mission from E3 2012 (before you start the mission). Enjoy folks.
Oh and if you all did not already hear, E3 2012 was run on a PC with 2 780′s in SLI. The game is now running Ultra on GeForce GTX 670s. Downgrade anyone?

I read that as Ubisoft saying the valid reviews are just the ones on our pay roll.

Its so stupid lol. The game looks great in my eyes...maybe not the amazing next gen show piece we thought it would be but it still looks great and the gameplay looks like a lot of fun.
I couldn't care less for any downgrade as gameplay is what counts and this game looks gorgeous anyway especially at night.

Yes, it's been met with nothing but complete derision on Neogaf.

He hasn't got the game, and barely put together a paragraph in the "review" he has done.

His bitching about people not believing him is longer than his actual review.

Yeah I was hyped up after the 2012 reveal it looked great, everything you could do, the interaction with the world, the scanning if people, the graphics were just the icing on the cake.

I'll be happy come release day to be able to play it.

Granted it was a poorly written review, I don't agree with the click bait stuff though, not like they said 1/10 worst game ever. That said, I don't see Neogaf as an authority on anything, absolute cesspit of immature rabid fanboy kids. Think I made 2 posts there. I do believe he has the game as well, judging by some of the comments by others who managed to get it early. I personally believe Ubisoft are trying to discredit it because they haven't given rave reviews about it (still called it a great game), the whole thing stinks like a political scandal and tbh it's pretty much drained the reaming bit of enthusiasm I had for the game in the first place.

I wouldn't say it's a cesspit at all. Every community even this one) has people like that, the bigger the community, the more you get.

And the best mods around *cough* :p

Get outa here ;). Back on topic, I personally feel I could enjoy this game like how I enjoyed AC IV, I'll probably get on fine doing the story line missions but get bored with the repetitive nature of all the side quests.

About that 'review' -

'This guy is clearly playing the beta version. How do I know?
Well i was involved in the beta. The beta was the first act of the game which was 10 to 12 hours in length. The full game is made up of several acts each taking 10 to 12 hours to complete. By the way by complete i mean story. Too 100% everything would take many many more hours. Also this guy has broken the video copyright embargo ubi has in place. This means anyone who posts videos of the game before the release date is exposing themselves to legal action, retail or review copy, it does not matter.'

How did he ascertain that from a crappy bit of video in which he was simply trying to blow up a petrol station?

the difference between a beta and release version is supposed to be just bug fixes, nothing else.

so if his review is that the beta is crap then that also applies to the release version tbh.

had it been an alpha build then yeah, many many things can and will change between that and release.

after all the purpose of a beta is to test that the game is good enough for release, therefore they are wanting to release the game as is and are hoping with the beta test some things which they couldn't find themselves are found so they can be plugged before official release.

therefore it doesn't matter if it's the beta tbh
