Where to find the batch number ?
" Look at the SD Card Slot you will find a little black tab much like the sim card tray so pull it out with a pair of tweezers or if you have long nails make use of it and you will find out the information you would find usually behind a battery cover and such, the IMEI number, other serial numbers and of course, the manufacturing date."

14w15 : slight gap at the top right ( less than a mm ) , Camera lens off centered , dead pixel
14w16 : Dead pixel ( 1 - 2 ) , Battery over heat , Camera lens off centered ( up in left position ) , A gap on the top right and on back on the top left just above the camera lens ,
14w17 : Overheat from using 4k video recording , 1mm gap on the top and bottom right corners and around 2mm gap on the bottom left corner. , flash is so far off centred that the complete top left corner ,
14w18 : A gap in the bottom left of the phone ( can easily fit a piece of paper or a pin in the gap). Also have the off center camera ,gets warm even when just using Chrome. , dust under screen / camera lens ,
14w19 : the camera is slightly off center ( doesnt affect the image quality ) , tiny gap at bottom left.

My phone is 14w19. The camera is certainly off-centre. I never noticed until this. Gap doesn't look as bad in the pics. It's not a big deal I think.

Wow that's bad.

that does not fill me with confidence!
good luck beta testers! :p

More I compare this to g3 the more I'm put off the z2
Issues are
potential comfort
Build issues
Digitiser reports
Size

If g3 has rgb led I'm getting it

A tiny proportion of the user base have defects (same as all android flagship phones). Don't worry about it.

I'm coming to this phone from a G2. Compared to the Z2, the G2 was like a toy. The camera was not in the same league (and it looks like the G3 has the same camera).

If you want crass, go for the G3. If you want class, go for the Z2!

Surely that is "a person with build date xyz" has reported this.. not "all handsets with this build date have this quirky little flaw"?

I'll have one this afternoon and I can be picky if needs be so I'll report back. I do however suspect this is something of an exaggeration just like the digitiser thing.

I've had a look at my iPhone 5 and S4 and if I force myself I can see the workings of the screen on both. But I don't because a phone is for calls and texts and apps, it's not a piece of precision engineering no matter what the manufacturers will tell you, they're mass produced low cost electronics which need to be durable and come off production lines.

Folks need to chill tbh!

Can you lift off a glass screen protector with a heat gun and reapply it?.
I think the way I have applied mines exaggerates the small gap up top right and bottom left and it really isn't that bad.

Blimey this thing is BIG!

Mine seems fine for quality, I think I see the dots that have been mentioned.. you've got to tilt the thing to a stupid angle in very direct light.. I think if that sort of thing is your issue you'll be better off sticking with handwritten letters lol.

Lovely device, just can't decide if it's too big.

I'm a bit miffed I can't easily ROM it either, I don't know why they'd do a GPe of the ultra and not this but maybe sooner or later someone will get CM11 on there.

I find the xperia this, xperia that etc and the insistence of facebook being on there irritating.

My God this phone is a tale of 2 halves. Love the OS and the speed and responsiveness on a 4G contract, but the rest of it is infuriating. I was replacing an S3 that had slipped out of my fingers and cracked the screen but have found the Z2 a disaster waiting to happen. The back part is unbelieveably slippy and appears utterly fragile so haven't done much until the separately-purchased case arrived today. To charge it, you have to pull off a flimsy side panel which is hung on by a string which will be ripped off in no time. To have to do that every time you want to charge the thing, which will be every 24 hours it seems, will be a pain in the backside. It's like they designed this thing to be broken within 3 months. To get around the nuisance of having to pull off the charging cover, which will get more flimsy with every 24 hours charging cycle, I bought the Sony magnetic dock for an additional £29.99 thinking I could have it attached as a "dock". Turns out all it is a way to power the phone without removing that flimsy strap each time. If you plug it into a PC with the phone docked, it won't be recognised and it won't charge the phone!

What a complete and utter ****-take.

I've got a 14w18, I can see the camera is slightly off center, but the gap in the bottom left corner is no bigger than the other 3 corners. It doesn't get warm using Chrome, and no dust under screen or camera lens.

Sounds like you need a case :) - But I agree on the flap that covers the charging port, I bought myself a 3rd party dock from Amazon for ~£10 and so far its working perfectly, little slower to charge compared to the normal plug, but to leave it on charge overnight, will charge it to 100%. And what did you expect?? They don't have the technology yet to allow data transfer via a magnetic connection. Can you not use something like Air Droid to transfer data via WiFi.

If we leave aside the paragraphs thing.. sounds to me like you picked the wrong phone.

You knew it was made of glass before you bought it? What part of made of glass made you think it would be able to withstand any sort of drop?

That said, you can get a case and frankly you'd be in the same position with the S5 or One or iPhone etc, they're all mostly glass now although clearly most only half, but nevertheless the half you need to be looking at.

You also knew it was waterproof, you achieve that using flaps and covers for ports.. don't like that, get something not waterproof.

Finally.. the dock.. I too find the whole charging flap thing irritating.. so I bought this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WHITE-Mag...ories_MobilePhoneChargers&hash=item2338d3223c

Simples..

Lot of hysterical responses in this thread!

Not saying for one minute this is perfect but if I'd spent money on mine I wouldn't have bought it for all the reasons people have stated, so how has everyone wound up actually buying something they see such massive issues with?

My only complaint with mine and I can't verify whether this is some or all of them is that it's pretty weak, I'm used to the grab my macbook magsafe has and this is not that, it can come out with the slightest pull.

Still, rather than than farting about with flaps (thats what she said).

There are chargers for it (not dock style, but normal) that use the magnetic part instead.

Although I see someone already said that!

Just to show some more :- http://dx-box.com/new-aluminum-magn...peria-z-ultra-xperia-z2-xperia-z2-tablet.html

Looks nice but what's the obsession with lights? Last thing I need at night is a bright green LED staring at me, the light off the Apple TV annoys me enough!

This is spot on. Some really odd complaints for an otherwise very good phone.

The digitizer for me is about the only legit complaint aside very obvious flaws.

I have no gaps, no brightness issues, no battery issues in fact hardly any complaints at all aside the aforementioned digitizer (which frankly is hardly that big of a deal) and normal, early released software 'quirks'.
