Update on broken seal 780ti's

Just FYI, under DSR the item has to be in the original condition but the packaging is irrelevant. You can't open something up to see if you like it without opening the packaging.

They can request that you return items in the original packaging, but they cannot insist on it.

Not the first time ive read about GPUs arriving in **** condition like this. I wouldnt purchase anything from OCUK TBH (Not even sure if i can as i live in Norway)

I'm glad it was resolved, but it's something that shouldn't have needed resolving in the first place really! I too am interested to know how this happened!

I've only ever bought 2 GPU's from OCUK (8800GT and 280x) and both were sealed boxes thankfully.

Very glad it's resolved - looks like OcUK's usual excellent customer service to the rescue.

Just for the record, I've bought lots of GPUs from OcUK over the past few years for myself and friends/family and I've never had a suggestion of any being other than exactly as described - new or B-grade depending on what I ordered.

It happens simply because of many possibilities which apply to all Etailors/Resellers worldwide:-
1. Stock was opened and inspected due to maybe try to ID the product as correct revision/type, happens rarely but does happen. But to do this there should be no finger prints on the card to be honest.
2. The card was inspected at distribution level potentially for same reasons above.
3. Not all brands seal their cards.
4. Someone made a genuine mistake and put a DSR'd/returned card back into new stock and not B-grade. Again distribution may have also done this as well.

We don't bin graphics cards as well we don't actually pre-overclock any graphics cards.

When it comes to 8 Pack we are supplied cards from the manufacturer or will actually request the manufacturer does some binning for us. Trust me we've had over 30pc of various 290's now and 6pc of 295 X2 as samples. Similar for NVIDIA.

OcUK is actually one of the biggest Etailors in the UK for VGA sales, in Q1 alone this year we have sold 15,000 graphics cards which gives you an idea of how small this issue truly is.

Although not all manufacturers seal their boxes, we are very easy to work with and give excellent service so if your ever not happy with a purchase for any reason we shall take it back. :)

I returned two 780tis due to problems, I left it a couple of days and ordered some new ones. Lord and behold I received the exact same cards back. I sent these back and asked for a refund, I let a week pass and ordered two more. Guess what? I received the same two MSI 780tis that I sent back from the previous occasions.

Could you post your order number up please. This seems pretty much impossible.

New orders go to our warehouse, which is separated from our RMA warehouse, as such RMA guys don't see new orders so how this is possible is hurting my head.

Please post up the order number so I can get it investigated.

Over the last 6 months I've bought an MSI 7950 be, MSI 7850, 4gb MSI 770 gaming and a 780 Classified from OCUK, They've all been sealed and faultless.

Not believing this. Nothing but praise for Ocuk Customer Service, I have had some issues with some purchases but CS has ALWAYS sorted it out to my satisfaction. 5UB is legendary. :D

I never mentioned anything about poor CS, in fact it's been top dollar, eg. Ocuk paying for collection etc. I'm not the first to have received opened and used goods on here (although in regards to my case, I received my own returns). You don't have to believe me or not, I'm not really interested, I'm just sharing my experience, somewhat similar to the original OP thread, that was moved privately.
