I think disenfranchised voters are perfectly entitled to make bloody nose votes for whatever reason they see fit. My post was after several beers so wasn't the most eloquent, but seeing as I wouldn't vote for most of the others on principle, and what with there being no "none of the above " box, I'm happy to see a bit of mayhem on the EU vote at least. Protest votes don't have to be deep and meaningful for some, as long as it's the political equivalent of a kick to the gonads. I don't trust any of them anymore, and I'm sure UKIP are no different. :)

I'm hoping that these rumblings make the mainstream gauge public opinion when it comes to policy making but we all know it'll be empty promises come general election time.

The way I think about the UKIP at the moment is that they try to be the "lovely old grandparent party". They present what is simple, what seems "wholesome" to the older generation and ultimately a sort of watered down (compared to the BNP, for instance), almost cutesy bigotry, befitting a lovely old grandpa who doesn't really mean any harm. To many people that does not seem threatening. Many of the voters are not necessarily bad people, but they lack an appreciation of what the policies the UKIP are putting across really symbolise.

Yes they do. It's pathologically impossible for them to fathom that political parties are in it for themselves first, before seeing if they can do a little good along the way.

Watch the Labour scum take a harder line towards the right as elections approach, fooling every idiot out there before going back to business as usual if they're voted in.

Any party which stops trying to propose fixes to things which aren't anywhere near the issue that the general public seem to believe they are, and instead first sets out to educate people about reality will have my attention. Unfortunately that doesn't make for good soundbites or snappy posters.

Not all of them, some of them are well educated bigots be it racist, homophobic, sexist ..etc

Well done BasVegas, a great reason to never visit and spend money in your borough!!

Careful with those kinds of comments or you'll get your collar felt by an unbiased moderator.

Bigot (noun): a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his own opinions.

Fully agreed.

The "If you disagree with open borders you must be racist" argument is so lame I can't believe intelligent people make it. .....

I don't think anyone has every said that in this thread so I stopped reading that there.

There are numerous reasons why the UKIP are regarded as bigoted, xenophobic, single issue party that appeals to small minded indivuals that have an inability to think rationally.

I mean, for starters if you hate the EU so much why vote in the EU election for a party that can't do anything about the UK being in the EU, and a party who has the worst turn out of any, and when they do turn up to vote have systematically voted against the UKs best interests just to be a stubborn 5 year old brat. If somebody is concerned about the EU, if they are thinking rationally voting for the UKIP is about the worst possible course of action, but of course that would require using more than 1 brain cell for half a second.

UKIP would get my vote. We need change in this country. As i have stated many times before, Great Britain in not 'Great' anymore.

Human Rights, immigration, religious extremists trying to change things for 'their' good etc etc. GB is a country known to bend over and take all that is shoved at it with ease!

I think he's talking about the moral panic surrounding paedophiles, much like ukip is trying to whip up moral panic about immigrants

oh I see, much like the lib dems and job losses if we come out from the EU or the constant allegations ukip supporters are racist by the left?

Here, here

I have voted UKIP in last two ballots I have had the chance to. We got a UKIP councillor in our local elections last year he ousted the last guy who had been there for years.
