What have you done to your car today?

Ouch, if anything I'd have thought such a car would be at low risk of that as it's very likely to have factory nav and thus no Satnav to pinch :(

I suspect they saw the mount on the window and thought they'd chance their luck. They're probably also thick enough to think my car's actually worth a lot of money, so guessed I might have expensive items in there. A british gas van up the road was also broken into and he had nothing on show at all, not even a mount.

Have dreadful. :( Where was it parked?

In my parent's drive. It's the usual south east london situation of living in a decent road surrounded by scum.

That's sickening. Is that covered under windscreen on insurance or will you be on the phone to a few scrapyards trying to lessen the pain?

They've damaged the trim and seal so I'll be paying out of my own pocket. Not worth me claiming at my age anyway. :(

Scrapyard for a new door then? If you can track one down the same colour. Would probably be much cheaper than paying for a new window and getting that metal work fixed / painted.

Edit: A quick google and you can pick up a door for £150.

Just called a scrapyard breaking one on ebay. Answered with "this better be ****ing good, it's bank holiday monday", I replied with "sorry to bother you on a bank holiday but my car's been broken into and I'm looking for some parts", he then said "no mate I'm at home" and put the phone down.

No chance I'll be giving them any money now - if they didn't want to answer the phone, then why answer?

If you're looking for Jag parts I wouldn't get any from this seller. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jaguar-X3...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43ca0aa422

Seems a bit excessive to paint a replacement door, not sure of how the door is put together but should be possible to replace trim, seal and window from a scrapper.

I never leave my mount on the screen for that exact reason - too many opportunists out there :(

Looking at it, it seems like it won't need a new door and I can just replace the trim, seal and window. I should remove the mount really, but as I use it every day and often park in dodgy locations, the mounts tend to break after only a month or two of use if I'm constantly removing them.

Took the front bumper off my parents car and found the leak on the condenser, new one ordered and should arrive this week for me to fit next weekend and get the A/C working again before they sell it.

Replaced the head unit in the MX5, old one is on the right, new on the left. Hopefully with the weight saving, the car will be much quicker :p

Now I just need to get some speakers, as the standard speakers can't cope with any low frequencies from the headunit

Unfortunately this is true. :( *******s. Did the scenes of crime people get anything from it?

Indeed it is, although I'm not sure what I can really do to combat it. I need a good sat nav for work (built in one is very outdated) and my work involves driving and parking all over London, often in rough areas. If I remove the sat nav and mount at every stop the mount breaks, and even if I do that there's often a mark on the windscreen, and the chance that some ***** will have a go at it anyway just because the car isn't a complete shed. To be honest, I always knew this would happen one day, just thought it'd happen when I was parked in Tower Hamlets or somewhere rather than at my parents house!

SOCO didn't get any prints other than my own, and said unless there's footage of them actually breaking into the car there's very little they can do. I've got the serial of the nav so I'm just going to keep an eye on gumtree and ebay, otherwise there's nothing I can do really.

But if you don't, your window breaks, so get a better mount and remove it each time.

I've never found one that doesn't break. Needs to withstand around 20-30 removals and replacements 4/5 days per week and still remain sticky.
