Show us your kitty cats

Oh if only for an hour that will be fine, thought you meant for a day or 2. Well have fun and let us know how it goes. Be prepared to be running round trying to find him in the first few days lol, I was like this with my boys even though I had fostered before lol. He will no doubt get into anything and everything lol.

You always have them in pairs? I feel a bit unsure about just having a single cat, but at the same time can't really deal with twice the expense at the moment either.

I had just one, and Winston has grown up to be one big fat ginger lump of awesome :D

Yeah I have pretty much always had 2 as I work long days and at least they have each other to keep them company while I am at work. You could always get another kitty if and when your finances permit.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your cat SouthEastBlue, he looked stunning. :(

Has anyone grown cat nip? I've seen some seeds on Amazon. This to be exact
http://www.amazon.co.uk/CATMINT-cat...=UTF8&qid=1401617214&sr=8-11&keywords=cat+nip

Just wondering if it needs to be cultivated in a greenhouse with special soil, bonemarrow or something. If I let it grown naturally in the garden I don't want to attract every single cat from a half mile radius.

not grown that, but had some catgrass, cheapy packet of seeds from JTF.

Grew them inside in a plastic tub, and the cat LOVED it. Was quite surprised!

Any body had experiances with electronic cat flaps that only open with a chipped cat? We need to get one asap as we have a rouge cat coming in our home spraying and its driving me mad

What exactly is the deal with catnip, my parents cats never had any but I've noticed a lot of soft toys are now laced with it, is it not bad for them?

Haha, of course not, why would they have all these products if it was harmful.

Basically a form of kitty-weed, but doesn't have any negative effects.

You can smoke it and put a bit in green tea ha, very safe I believe as long as the don't eat it. Like a legal high for us humans it sends them mad, quite fun to watch :)

LIke humans, cats will react differently to different drugs. Some froth on eating catnip, but it isn't harming them.

Granted I live in a small flat, but when I got my two, there was no "confining to one room" I just let them out the cat box and off they went. :)

Same here.
I usually let them out in the bathroom.
I leave the door open and let them explore.
If they want to come out of the bathroom - fine.
If they want to stay in there - fine.
If they want to do No.1 or No.2 on the bathroom floor - let them.

The bathroom is the best place to release them. ;)

My oldest cat, Daisy went missing some time ago and we finally gave up any hope of her returning. After a lot of thinking, we decided to get another as we have always had two cats so the house didn't feel right. After a lot of searching for a tabby (they are popular around here!) we finally found this little fella and collected him last night. He is amazingly well socialised having come from a house of cats, dogs and kids. He is full of confidence and doesn't seem phased at all by his new surroundings.

Let me introduce Milo :)

Do many here have their cats as housecats?

Yes I do, 2 year old MC, she doesn't seem to mind, when I come home she will potter about on the front porch for a couple of minutes if its not wet, windy, she appears to be a fair weather cat.

We let the gf's cats out for their first outside experience the other weekend so I got some pics, didn't manage to get many of Maude as she was too busy running around like a loon!

I managed to catch Dex mid hiss at Hetty as she tried to invade his favourite place at the bottom of the garden below the bird box.

I live in a 2nd floor apartment, so not practical for mine to go out. I doubt I'd let them out anyway. My Bengal would be ok, but my British Blue is a total dimwit - he'd be dead within an hour.
