Any decent series to watch?

We've just finished Dexter and are looking to start something pronto. Would prefer to watch series that are completed and have watched:

* Lost
* Heroes
* Prison Break
* Dexter
* 24 (except the current series of course)
* Homeland (to date)
* Friends
* Big Bang Theory

Am thinking The Wire. Is Suits still running? Game of Thrones still is isn't it?

Any suggestions welcomed :)

If you liked Friends and Big Bang Theory, then definitely give How I Met Your Mother a go, even though the final season couldn't live up to the expectations built over the course of the show, it is still a great sitcom.

Seems every show I watch has ended for the series or ending soon like

  • GOT - Only 1 episode left or was it 2
  • Arrow - Season two just finished
  • Sons of Anarchy - Not back for a while yet
  • Walking Dead - Season Finished
  • Hannibal - Season Finished
  • Supernatural - Season Finished
  • House of Cards - Season finished
Only thing going right now is 24, which has been a bit crap so far.

have watched

  • Lost
  • Prison Break
  • Heroes
  • 24
  • Breaking Bad
  • The Sopranos
  • Dexter
  • CSI (up until a couple of years ago where I gave up)
  • Warehouse 13 (found it a bit B grade and given up)
  • X-Files

Think that's about it for what i've seen. Prefer US shows, you can see the kinds of shows I like from above.

So anything worth checking out that I haven't seen?

**It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - the first few episodes are quite weak compared to the rest of it. Its the only comedy series I know to get funnier over so many series.

**Homeland

** The League

** Louie

Also, I really really hate with a passion Big Bang Theory.

Here's a nice clip without the canned laughter. I'm not sure where the jokes are.

FF likes How I met your mother. I find it a bit annoying, though part of the reason may be that I can't get past the fact Doogie Howser MD is in it and I find him extremely annoying with his big old forehead.

Thanks for the suggestions :) looks like it will be The Wire next.

Just hope it doesn't end up the same as Dexter - all of the hype - and most of the seasons were brilliant don't get me wrong, but the finale was pretty awful :(

You won't believe me unless you actually watch a few episodes, I know this because I avoided the show from awful looking trailers until I needed something to watch the other day.... The Mindy project is just hilarious! I saw trailer and thought ' yawn another doctor show' but not really any doctoring to it, it's just really really funny, so much so that I have watched both seasons over the space of 3 days lol.

For the more serious shows, banshee is good.

I second The Shield. It starts off fantastic and just gets better with each season. Also has a fantastic ending, which is rare for series these days.

Lewis!

Watched an episode out of boredom the other day and really got into it. Downloaded all 7 seasons now which are available on sky on demand.

Justified is a brilliant show, season 5 just finished recently you might like that.

Looks good, I'm waiting for it to be broadcast from season one again though also haven't watched breaking bad or the Tudors both of which I'm looking forward to, I can heartily recommend Vikings I'm on ep 8 s1, got the rest on a stick.

Another edit to say Borgias!!

It gets worse as the series progresses, its watch able no doubt, but the main character is terrible and the complete ineptness of the FBI is a joke. (mind you there are not as bad the FBI in the Following :p)

Series just has no gravitas, humour of any sort, there are no cliffhangers you give a toss about, the characters are all stereotypical. Spader quickly becomes annoying too.

Its a series for when you have nothing decent to watch. :)

Well yeah, but I watch it mainly to see Spader, torture a person whilst babbling on in his cool way :)

Same kinda riff with Persons of Interest, it's a switch off brains tv.

^ Yup Spader carries the show, watched it all enjoyed it but it's second rank like Nikita, that's not a criticism as both the above are better than Human Target or Burn Notice which I again loved watching.

Well, Big Bang Theory doesn't have "canned laughter", as it is filmed in front of a live studio audience - so the actors can't really continue until the audience stops laughing.
