Nice too see you are as mature about things as ever Tummy

OH M GEEE! ROLL EYES.

I was being totally serious, if you have idea's in how to do these sort of things, take up a job in the industry?

Do you not think they thought about the majority of idea's that people have had, then made the decision to do it a particular way? It's not like they're amateurs with no experience in film making, television or production.

I thought the fight was ~ok~ personally, enjoyable episode.

Really enjoyed the episode, although took me till a fair way through to realise it wasn't going to switch to another storyline sometime :p

Loved the giants they were awesome, riding a mammoth and then with the bow

Was gutted Grenn died thought he was a cool character, at the same point I'm glad Tormund didn't die although not sure it'll be long for him :(

I imagine the next episode won't be featuring much about the Nights Watch now so it'll be about a year before we get more from that  :( Could have happily sat there for many more hours watching that continue on :)

I think that may well be the case too, well I'm sure there will be stuff happen but I doubt not much will be resolved and if anything it'll leave us with more cliffhangers :p

It wouldn't surprise me if not a lot happens in the finale, just some setting up for the next season.

Thinking back to the books, I'm confused what they can end with? ie: How they can fill a final episode!

*scratches head* Oh yes! I know what the exact last scene will be now (I recon) :)

Or - and this sort of blew my mind - why not get some small rowboats and just go *around* the wall on either side? Surely this is much simpler, and a better way to move hundreds, if not thousands of people?!

I'm assuming here that the Wildlings possess rudimentary boat technology :p

There are three manned castles on the wall, Castle Black being the main one but there is Shadow Tower at the Western end of the wall and Eastwatch at the Eastern end.

"The Battle of Castle Black may have been the biggest action set-piece in Game of Thrones history (and probably TV history, too), but next Sunday’s hour of the HBO hit could be the show’s best episode ever.

Titled “The Children,” the 10th episode of the fourth season will break a narrative pattern that’s been set by the show in previous years. Usually the ninth episode contains a major character death or battle, and the finale is a quieter hour (by Thrones standards, at least) that wraps some storylines while launching other threads for next season. Expect “The Children” to check in with all the key characters and for some major drama to unfold."

I wouldn't be so sure :)

There is so much that could potentially happen in the next episode, can't wait!

Plus as even our own history has shown the logistics of moving 1000s of men and equipment even relatively short distances over water is actually much trickier and prone to disaster than it sounds.

Very good episode on Monday. We really enjoyed it. Liked the fact it focused on the wall but we, like most, were hoping to see Tyrion's fate. Liked the action aspect of the episode and it felt like it went on much longer than I expected it to. Giants on Mammoths!!! WooHoo hopefully we'll see bigger and better fights and action scenes in the coming seasons. I do understand where a lot of critics are coming from questioning the battle at Castle Black but the way I saw it was that it was more of scouting sort of attack rather than a full on assult. Plus they are wildings not trained soldiers hence the reason they retreated despite their numbers. Also Jon Snow's reasoning to go see Mance could and should have more time.

Well, they haven't finished the battle at the Wall for starters. They also have a load of other stuff from book three to put in. Since they've pulled a part of book four forwards as well, the final scene is likely to be a meeting from book four. A more interesting question would be: given how much they have to cram in, it's probably why the episode will be longer than usual.

If the name of the episode is anything to go by then they're pulling in story lines from book 5 now! I think if any serious plots start getting spoiled by the show I will have to stop watching. I don't think this will happen until at least mid way through season 5 though. Perhaps not even until season 6, there is afterall a hell of a lot of plot in books 4 and 5.

Stories I want advanced in the season finale:
Arya,
Tyrion,
Bran,
Jon (although I doubt they will even touch the wall after ep 9).

I assume most people knew this but I've only just worked it out:
