 Please don't use a jet wash on my bike!

it's probably not even a jet wash :P or it's set to stupidly low power anyway, I doubt they are going to blast around peoples bearings seeing as they want cyclists to visit again
I'm not sure what's hipster about that cofe place?

it's obviously cyclist orientated and that's it.
well the panini menu is all fancy stuff where's the bacon buns and simple foods.

I couldn't eat a single themed panini because they all have something I don't like on them

Riding a conventional geared bike with freewheel and two brakes for my commute tomorrow. This will be the first time since February last year. Riding it round the block felt odd to say the least, really strange after riding fixed gear for so long.
And I can report that it did indeed feel strange and I only wanged my feet round backwards once trying to slow down with my feet instead of using the brake. I didn't even realise I did that until today.

their panini menu seems stupidly hipster though which puts me off , doesn't look like they do normal food although they seem to have lots of homemade cakes according to facebook photos

Looks quite tasty to me.

A pair of Vittoria Paves with the green tread would set that bike off a treat (I know coloured tyres aren't cool, but Paves are ridden by the pros so it's OK allegedly).

I considered it, but running wider than 23mm you risk tyre rub on the stays when sprinting or climbing hard according to google!

My noob mistake was putting the tyres on backwards, I looked for a directional arrow or something. Couldn't find one, until I had fitted the tyres....

I could flip the front wheel round but then the logos wouldn't match side to side

can't wait ;)

but I was aiming for 23mins around RP.. and box hill MEH.

23 minutes around Richmond Park, you're setting your sights a little low. You should be aiming for 19-20 minutes per lap and a 3 laps under an hour.
Only other thing to note, either go early or late, I was there last Friday from around 7:30 and had pretty much the run of the place.

Are the logos different on each side?

The drive side should have the Vittoria logos which makes sense really as that's the photographed side.

The centre tread is unidirectional but the shoulders do have a slight angle on there. Tread is mostly or all for show on road bikes though so imagine it will be fine.

As for taking the tyres off again, not something I fancy, I think the base tape would rip if I tried to remove them this time. I feel a lot more confident now I have glued a set of tyres up (twice) and would do it again, kinda glad I did $50 Vittorias first not $110 Veloflexes!

Chuckled at this, when did hipster become synonomous with nice food? Think there's a place like that in Glasgow but I've never been along. Problem with bike cafes (for me anyway) is I'm normally looking for a stop in the middle of the ride, not at the start/finish.

I never rode around RP before :) also need to find out where the police sit at.. if I'm going balls out down the hill I don't want them to clock me.

So, gears are utterly ruined. I am the Grudas of gearing.

what happened now lol.

I think it's just wear. I've got a new cassette, decent quality cables (didn't replace outers last time, just inners with crap quality cables) and a new chain on it's way. Current chain is not that old but the amount of abuse it has taken this week from the gears slipping and messing around makes me think I should just swap it out for the tiny amount of money a chain costs.

is that your new-ish carbon CX from planet x?

can't believe you need to replace it :O

the only thing I've replaced on my cheapo triban 4k+ miles in was the cassette and a chain at the same time but that's it

You couldn't have done that many miles to wear the stuff so quickly? Surely not?

Probably about 1.5k-2k miles since the cassette was last replaced. Chain..don't even ask :p The cables.. maybe 3k miles since they were replaced. I agree that they shouldn't need replacing but blah...
