With 300bhp it's going to kill the value of the current gen mugens surely?

So it's this or a new Impreza STI at those prices, I know where my money would be going. I know they're two different animals but I'd put money on the Subaru being an all round better car

Ridiculously over priced, hot hatches should not be more than 20k. 10 years ago a CTR was 17k, now its almost doubled.
Doubt it's going to kill the prices, it might lower the values, but a Mugen badged car and a last of the line N/A VTEC engine will still have a lot of pull.

Car prices have increased massively though, you're not going to get a 'Hot Hatch' in the Civic size range (with the 'quality' Honda seem to be aiming at) for anything like £20k.
Look at the Civic range as it stands now:
SE £17k
SE+ £21k
SR 23k
EX+ 25k
You're only getting a £20k car if you get basic trim level and add a couple of options to it, nevermind the fully fledged range topping performance model.
You might get something like the most basic spec Focus ST for near £22k with no options on it but even there, an ST3 is pushing £26k before you even look at options.
edit - that said, your £17k is a bit exaggerated, Wiki suggests:
The base price for the 2001 Civic Type R (EP3) in the United Kingdom was of £23,100
According to a quick inflation calculator I found on the BoE website, that inflation works out to be something like £32,000 in today's money, so if anything it's about the same price.
From what I've seen lately, seeing as I do trade aswell and trade a lot of honda's, EP3 and FN2's seem to be appreciating in price. Maybe because they are the last of N/A car's from Honda![]()
But the fn2 was never the preferred platform for the type r anyway, hardly a classic. Plus the new one looks as extreme abd has miles more power and performance. Game over dude.

It looks ridiculous
I like it.
