When Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal didnt have a scorer for large parts of the season, not really much to boast about..

LOL

Really you don't think 31 goals in the EPL in the season is much to boast about? What does it matter that the others didn't have a scorer, only Ronaldo has ever scored 30 goals or more in the EPL for United, Chelsea have never had a scorer get 30 and Henry only managed it once for Arsenal. Clearly it is something to boast about. If it was easy more would have done it in the PL history.

How you can say him finishing top isn't anything to boast about is laughable considering it's not finishing top but the amount of goals he scored on the way. It's not like Dion Dublin finishing top with 18...

As for image rights, who cares he's hardly the first player to lose one sponsor and still have deals all over the place. As soon as he goes to Barca he will get a ton more.

FYI - I think it was mentioned the other day that including this ban (if Liverpool keep him) he will have lost a full season through bans while in England (to be eact 32 games rather than 38 if someone wants to knit pick lol)

Ahh...really? Is that in his whole career, or since he joined L'pool? Bit mad that..

Manchester United have been told they can sign midfield target William Carvalho this summer - but he will cost them £37million.

The Portugal international has a release clause in his contract at Sporting Lisbon and will leave if anyone triggers it.

Sky sources understand he is one of the targets United’s new boss Louis van Gaal is considering as he looks to add another midfielder after signing Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao last week.

Sporting are prepared for a bid but have warned they will not allow the Portugal international to go on the cheap.

Director Augusto Ignacio told Sporting TV: “It’s not like the old days when players left Sporting at any price.

“We are not concerned with William Carvalho because we have alternatives who will want to play as well.

“The termination clause ensures a great deal for Sporting. I am very pleased with the negotiations.”

Carvalho, who played for his country at the World Cup, has been linked with a host of top European clubs this summer including Real Madrid and Juventus.

£37m is a bit steep, need to throw Nani and Bebe in as part of the deal and get a few quid off.

Catalan radio:

Talks on Luis Suarez are well-advanced, but deal not expected today. 80M fee dropped after biting incident. No players included. [catr rac1]

7s, that was quick Azza! :p

Luis Suarez's Anfield exit has moved a step closer after Liverpool FC held “productive” talks with Barcelona over a potential £75million deal.

Reds chief executive Ian Ayre opened negotiations with a delegation from the Spanish giants in London on Wednesday.

The ECHO understands that the discussions were amicable and more talks are set to take place over the coming week.

Barcelona's initial offer of around £60million fell well short of the Reds' demands of around £75million but it looks increasingly likely that an agreement will be reached.

Probably settle on £70m~ then?

On Sanchez:

During Wednesday's talks in the capital, Liverpool informed the Barca delegation, which included their director of football management Raul Sanllehi, that they would accept £30million rated Chilean attacker Alexis Sanchez plus around £45million for Suarez.

However, the ECHO understands that securing the services of Sanchez isn't a deal breaker in the Suarez negotiations.

Sanchez is currently considering his options with reports in Spain suggesting he favours a move to Arsenal.

Better than nothing in 8 years :p

I'm not sure who you're referring to with that, but serious question. Wenger hasn't really shown any progress in that time and to be honest you rode your luck to the FA Cup, so when do you draw the line and move on?

From an outside view it eems like the FA Cup win has papered over some big cracks.

Who would Arsenal move onto though?

I really hope we get Sanchez but I can't see it, if we don't I really hope we get a well proven striker as a replacement. Sturridge I highly rate that being said we still need another lambert was also just an extra option really and aspas is just crap and borini I can't see working out either

Considering the teams Arsenal face with their endless spending I'm surprised anyone can win something unless they are cheating with breaking fair play rules.

I'm referring to my own team. We went 8 years...nothing...9 years and a win = better. Not rocket science. :p

We hardly rode our luck, wasn't exactly an easy draw for any round. I guess come backs are just lucky now. I really enjoyed the game and enjoyed the win, why can't you let someone enjoy the moment without picking fault. Just cheap shots.

My team won something let me enjoy it for at least the summer.

No cheap shots here, genuine observation. I can agree with your point on spending, it's definitely more difficult now, although you did spend £40m on a midfielder and are seemingly looking to spend £30m+ on a winger.

I only refer to riding your luck as the semi final went to penalties against a relegated side and obviously you went 2-0 down in the final to a nearly relegated side.

And of course the FA Cup is still an achievement but I think the question still stands. Not trying to pick fault, just intrigued what the real view from an Arsenal fan is?
