Di Maria is better though and RM never sell anyone for cheap

Mourhino must be laughing all the way to the bank for luiz :p

Not by the amount of difference in mmost headlines (20-30m euros difference)

Imo for that kind of money you should be getting a decent amount of goals as well as assists (where di maria is not that good a scorer, 22 in last four seasons)

Vdv, sneijder. .. oh dear maria isn't worth 40 million.

Arsenal screwed everyone, there was a history of Real, Barca, and frankly plenty of top clubs shoving players out the door on the cheap to make room in the wage budget for some new star then along come Arsenal and pay 42mil for a player Real knew they would be better replacing. We were supposed to to be doing them a favour taking him off their hands and as such get a cut price deal... but we went completely the other way. By over paying massively for Ozil we've helped Real realise they can just sell their cast offs for a mint and their "new" Galacticos(whoever it is this year) won't end up costing nearly as much any more(in effect).

I don't think Ozil was worth more than 20mil, Di Maria probably not worth more than 30mil and Sanchez is probably better than him. More pace... but tough to say who is the worse diver. They both randomly have games where they go down every touch, and others where they'll ride every tackle and in doing so are great offensively. I forget which game it was Di Maria rode some pretty bad tackles and set up a goal... champs league final? Other games he just dives all over the place. Both can be very frustrating.

Ultimately as a wide attacker, Sanchez will likely assist less but score a lot more than Di Maria. For Arsenal we need more goals to supplement the god awful Giroud. As Barca have been a bit rubbish in cups and big games for the last couple of years it's harder to judge just how good Sanchez is in the biggest games. I think he'll do well for us, looks to be okay value at 30mil, and I'd prefer to pay 30mil for him than 40mil + for Di Maria for sure. If they were both the same price I'd probably choose Sanchez for Arsenal, for another team where delivery/assists might be more important I might go Di Maria. IE I think Utd could do with Di Maria more than Sanchez.

So from what I gather Arsenal are close to signing Sanchez, Debuchy and Remy.

Those are the credible rumours.

The less credible one is we are trying to sign Kedhira as well.

Oh and theirs a rumour of Kalou from Lille as well.

I agree with you Sanchez over Di Maria. For Arsenal anyway. We need some one who has fire in his belly and puts the ball in the back of the net. Not another creative player, with no one to score the goals.

Dont agree with Giroud being awful. He's not. 20 goals and a good performance for France at the world cup = a decent player.

Also a bit gutted to see markovic leave us. Would've wanted him to stay one more season, we are selling a lot of our players.

Giroud was literally horrendous in the world cup, completely and utterly awful. Some of the teams France played were terrible, against real teams Giroud was not only awful, he was abysmal. Against, was it Nigeria, he was absolutely terrible, they made a single change in him for Griezman and they utterly dominated from then on winning pretty comfortably. He was utterly unable to link up with his team mates, couldn't hold up the ball, shooting was shocking, interplay non existent. The team with a single change and that being Giroud off, was night and day in difference.

His record against the top 8 is woeful, he looks terrible against any teams of quality. If the bottom half of the table hadn't been so utterly dreadful in the past few years then he'd have 1/4 of the goals he does have. Almost all of his goals are from within 8 yards, basically scores tap ins against crap teams and does very very very little else. I've literally never seen a striker who is so incapable of running at a defence on his own. A striker who from outside of 6-8 yards is entirely and completely no threat at all to the opposition.

He is a dreadful player, loads of players can have a lucky season and get a bunch of goals, good strikers aren't so unfailingly awful against good sides nor so utterly poor when it comes to anything but tap in goals.

Klose who is now the all time leading Wold Cup goal scorer, also just scores tap ins and is incapable of running at a defence on his own.

So in that sense, you do your job, I'll do mine. And Girouds job is simply to score goals. Any way I rate him. I think he's got a good touch and knows where the goal is. He'll get better too.

Now Sanogo.... Should be got rid asap. Shouldnt be anywhere near the first team!

Giroud sucks and makes his team play worse.
Klose links up play very well and presses the defenders in possession as well as finding the back of the net and bringing his team mates into play.

Sounds like Evra is off to Juventus then. We need someone who can cover for Shaw, so I guess that'll be whoever we sign as a centre back, or we can promote a younger player. I guess Evans can fill in there but it's far from ideal.

AS in Spain seem convinced we've bid for Di Maria, as have PSG, but our offer is higher (in the £40m region). The last couple of seasons he's become a far more dangerous player and I certainly wouldn't be unhappy if we paid that for him, considering our current circumstances. PSG will likely offer something ridiculous though, as well as guaranteeing Champions League football and a free league title.

It does appear we're in some sort of initial negotiations for Vidal, but it won't be straight forward and will be expensive.

I think we're going to need Van Gaal back to sort out these bigger deals.

Yet the team looked better with Sanogo playing, shouldn't that highlight a problem.

Klose's movement was brilliant, Giroud's is not, Klose scores tap in's but not only tap in's. He's much less good this tournament but Klose brought the whole team in to play and while I've not seen him often take the ball 30 yards and beat 2 players then score himself... his willingness to try it still pushes the defence back.

Giroud was benched for almost every single important game in the CL and league...... for Sanogo.. who was crap.

Sanogo TRIED, but failed miserably to play like a striker. But his actual running at the defence pushed them back, created space for others. Regardless of him being utter turd in front of goal and messing up many many passes, the midfield still worked better when he was making the runs a striker should make because the defence was reacting to his intention not his quality.

France went from literally woeful against Nigeria to utterly dominant by way of removing Giroud for another player who was willing to make those runs and who could actually find a defence unlocking pass... who was actually a threat from somewhere outside the 6 yard box.

Literally anyone can score from inside the 6 yard box, you put my gran in there and eventually a cross would hit her and go in. That isn't talent, that's being a lampost, being a footballer at the top level requires just a tad more than that.

Sanogo is utterly useless(currently) but just knowing how to play as a striker made the team better. There is no place at Arsenal for Giroud, he is a truly awful player. When Sanogo, who was poor on the ball, poor shooting, poor heading and poor running with it.... made the team better.... that is because the other guy was worse. It wasn't fluke, every time he played we looked better and more capable and more a team. This is true of France also, they looked better whenever he went off, or worse when he came on.
