OK spec me

How does it compare? It doesn't I'm afraid. Sennheiser make a couple of good headphones sadly they are over your budget. If you've never heard a good set of headphones you probably won't be disappointed as you won't have heard anything to compare them too but they certainly are not good for the money.

G4ME ZERO's are far too expensive for what they are, basically PC350's or 518's with gaming marketing slapped everywhere.

Thanks well thats them out the list.

Wait for the next massdrop on them, should appear again.

Maybe someone who got some from the last massdrop will sell them on MM if they don't like/want them.

X1's are great all rounders but if you want competetive fps headphones they may have too much bass, although saying that you said your Kave's had bass and are good for gaming so you might find them fine.

Yeah this review here and reading people comments in its own thread have these on my number one list I think. yeah bass I like, the Kaves done this very good with its Vibration unit I think I will miss this the most. Its like a Ps3/4 pad vibration if you get me. Gives very good feedback.

Just to note:

Phillips X1 - none changeable earpads.
AKG K612 pro - none detachable cable.
AKG 701, Q701 - headband has bumps, which people may find uncomfortable. Edited (new 702 withdrawn. no bumps).

After having long good think about what has been said on here over passed week, about 5.1 vs stereo, sound quality vs positional que
Am looking to give a high quality headset ago, and once and for all give my honest point on what I really believe to be better.

Now I have never owned a headset that's cost more than 70 pounds. I fully understand that a high priced headset will sound much better than my roccat Kave 5.1 but the thing I doubt they do better is positional audio.

So budget let's start at £200 my sound card is Asus Xonar d2x and I would like to really not change. Main reason I use DTS connect with my home cinema system.

So hopefully I'll get to the bottom of this sound quality vs positional audio.

Thanks

I, as usual, am going to go against some of the advice you have been given already in this thread.

Get the Samson SR850's and use them with you current card.

They will be a great introduction to the world of stereo headphones and still give you great gaming audio. The third advantage is that they will cost you around £30 (probably less)

You can buy buy AKG K240 velour earpads if you don't like the earpads on the SR850's. They only cost a tenner.

Buy them, burn them in for a day or two, then enjoy :)

EDIT:- To truly put the headphone versus headset debate to rest you should buy the cheaper headphones rather than spending £200. Wasn't the cost of stereo headphones a part of your argument against them? So possibly another reason to get the SR850's, in the interest of science and all :D

Thanks will take a look. No I didn't mind the cost, I fully understand that the higher priced headphones would sound better. My argument was that I don't think they do positional audio better. And they don't sound ad bad some make out.

Well you could get a usb dac with headphone amp built in which would be a viable option.
Are you after headset or headphones and what budget?

It's funny you'll only get people suggest products they have and those that like AKG are like PES or fifa guys the same with othe brands people stick

If adding sound card also max would be 350. Am really liking the Philips one. I would really like to not after buy another sound card or amp.
