He's a ****** and a mystery was made of who his mother was. Even when Robert asked him about it in the series he clammed up. Quite obviously I'm going to guess at what the mystery is.

I think he's more interested in how you came up with that theory based only on what is in the TV show - which is a single fairly cryptic reference in the first episode of the first series. Your own explanation there also doesn't add up: Ned did not want to talk about who the mother was, but neither Ned nor Robert intimated in any way that Ned was not the father. I would suggest that you've also been reading around the interwebs.

No nothing more than most of this thread and GOT on my facebook feed, other than that conversations with other people about the show. Apologies for thinking deeper than the obvious of where the plot is going.

I think John Snow is a man of destiny, now I've always assumed he's a Stark but there were 3 brothers. I wondered if Eddard claimed him as his ******* because the truth was worse. Don't know what it can be though. If he was 1/2 Targareyn he would have a claim for instance.

John is more interesting than Danerys who is dull and annoying, sadly I think she has destiny but would be happy to see her dead.

No names but a Jon Mother note from book 3 so spoilered...

Cannot remember any names but in book 3 when Arya is going around with the Brothers Without Banners one of the squires knew Arya and who Jon's Mother was, somthing to do with a tourny at Harrenhall and a love afair Ned had with someone (a wetnurse iirc..?) who subsequently jumped to her death when Ned left. Either way the name was someone pretty random and deffinately not a Targarian.

What you have said is not entirely accurate.
For corrections read the book thread.
It is all in there, in greater details.

Arya was told that Jon shared a wetnurse with another lad.
A wetnurse is just a woman to breastfeed a child when the mother isn't present.
She isn't the actual mother.

Yay. There is a Youtube video stating the case (as well as a thousand posts on westeros.org, of course) but I won't post it here for spoiler-related reasons.

I'm sure GRRM has said both that Jon's mother will be revealed and that it is important - so presumably it will be in the TV show, even if they only stick to the major plot milestones from the books.

Nope, because they involve things which are not in the books, but are speculation by fans. The books have hints which TV does not, but no actual facts are being given here.

Anyway, I've only seen the TV show and I didn't really think the R+L=J video had much in the way of spoilers at all. It's still all speculation.

In fact, it's made me look forward to the next series even more.

Some new cast members for season 5, featuring Doran and Trystane Martell, the Sand Snakes, Areo Hotah, Princess Myrcella, Yezzan zo Qaggaz, and the High Sparrow.

The actress playing Myrcella seems to be called Nell Tiger Free.

Yezzan looks a bit skinny considering his nickname is the Yellow Whale.

And a guy from Star Trek!
I was seriously tempted to start reading AFFC last night against my promise to keep the TV show one step ahead of the books but think I'll get utterly lost with all the new characters in Dorne, so I'm glad I fell asleep instead. Back on the bookshelf you go for another year old unread friend...*

Roll on June 2015!

*but I did read the SOSp2 Epilogue... Blimey....
