With no CL football and a threadbare team, who is going to want to go to Man U? Who says they won't be worse next season?

Oh for gods sake. Didnt we have this in December and a few months ago with the self procalimed voice of football crowing that we would never attract top players then he insinuated that that any half decent manager worth his salt would not want to goto Utd

Mata
LvG
Herrera
Shaw

Not bad for a mid table club on the decline to division 2

Looked like Lukaku to me, if it were my choice I'd prefer to spend 30mil on Lukaku before 5mil on Welbeck.

Everton are a team that have a limited room for wages, and every player like Welbeck who would eat up 80k a week is someone hurting the team. A one off fee for a really good player who will actually help the team is much better.

Welbeck is poo and his value won't increase. Lukaku's scoring rate for two seasons is worth 20mil with ease, and he also has the potential to be the kind of player that in 3-4 years could end up being one of these 50+mil transfers, with increased tv money and before the entire squad gets new contracts to reflect the new income, Everton have 1-2 seasons of decent profits again before higher average wage eats up that money. Spend that on a couple top players who can make the difference and they can do really well. With Lukaku it's a good investment opportunity. He's improved a lot and is very young, more games, more experience and you could have a huge asset to sell in a few years.

I was about to raise a concern with regards to Lukaku - his game is all about raw athleticism and physicality - I was going to question how good he will be when that starts to fade.

Then I googled him and realised he is 21 - getting him for 20m would be an absolute bargain.

Khedira for 25m euros is being reported. I think that's a bargain. £100k a week wage and they are trying to reduce that. Just give it to him lol

Just need a defender or two in now and we are good to roll. Should be an exciting season.

Feel a little for Evra now, (from what I read) he only wanted to leave because of his wife / family and now because Conte has resigned , he is potentially out in the cold with both clubs.

The stories are saying he wants £100k a week AFTER tax, which is the snagging point, apparently. Like with Sanchez, until I see him in the shirt I remain skeptical - he might be Ozil's mate but he could just as easily go to Chelsea and then he's only down the road from him if they want to hold hands.

:D:D:D

I would think he wants more than £100k before tax as well. I imagine he is on quite a bit more at Real.

is it my imagination but there are a lot of transfers being done in the last couple of windows with only one year left on the existing contract - yet the prices being paid are gigantic (in comparison)

For example Khedira - Is he really a £30m + player if he had 2 -3 years left on his contract (obviously thats a bit of a guestimate but hopefully you get the point)

Kroos is a little more understandable but even so a single year left going to different leagues (even if they are Euro competitors) - Im sure these deals used to be 10-15m euros kind of deals

Rumours that Vidal is after 10m euros a year (Im working that out at ~£160k/week if my maths is correct) which isnt such a big deal for such an obviously good talent

I don't think he's a £30,000,000 player no, obviously he's very good, but his injury record especially over the last twelve months is a bit concerning. I think we'd be better off going for somebody a bit younger with less of a track record for being on the treatment table. Plus his rumoured wage demands are eye watering.
