*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

My colleague has just got a 32GB N7 2012- by the looks of the Google loading screen it's on 4.2 or 4.3.

I have just had an absolute nightmare with my other colleagues N4 and a recent update (bootloop and a broken recovery). In the end I had to put 4.3 on with the radio from 4.2.2.

Should I be expecting a similar issue with the N7?

Best way is to flash the latest factory image if anything goes wrong: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images

Thanks. Are you referring to the N4 or N7? I have tried doing so for the N4 and I really don't want to freak out my (very non-techie) colleague by soft bricking it and having to flash. 4.4 seems to have caused issues across the board (Nexus devices, Samsung and Sony).

What's the best way to get flash without root?

Think I just killed mine :(

A bottle of juice exploded in my bag, covered it.. it turned on and worked fine, I put it on charge and now it's dead blank :(

Should've put it in rice first... is in there now with the back cover off but not too hopeful

Try to take it apart carefully and just leave it to dry for a couple of days. My last iPhone 4 was left to dry fora week. After that I put it back together, crossed my fingers and it turned on. Persevere my friend

a friend had similar thing happen, took it apart sprayed wd40 specialist pcb spray, left it apart few days then put it back together.

Possibly getting a 2nd gen 32GB version of one of these for £95. Is that a good price? Comes with all the accessories etc.

Is the Nexus 7 (2012) 16Gb factory refurbished for £77inc del. a good price?

Looking for a decent 'ish tablet to replace a damaged Nook 7" tablet.

I've got the 2012 16Gb model, and it is struggling with everything. Takes ages to do anything with it, it really needs a wipe and reinstall. I'd look for the 2013 model.

Mines slowed to a crawl and I cant be bothered to fix it.

I want to make it a digital picture frame but the official dock (2012 model) is hard to find. Are there any slim and tidy alternatives that use the pins on the side for power rather than having to hang a cable out of it?

im still using the 2012 nexus the kids still play games on it and i used it heavily to watch most of the world cup matches.

Got one of these in the Sun + deal but the speakers are really distorted ! Got another in the family which is fine so this unit is definitely faulty but having trouble getting Sun + to do anything. Can I deal direct with Google ?

Glad I got a replacement 2013 version for my 2012 a while ago. I think it should stay pretty nippy for a few years. Solid enough specs.

hope they next gen will be 8" and have physical soft key home button. or something that wake the screen up with a slide finger like the LG G Pad.

It's ASUS you need to deal with

Experiencing some major iPlayer issues on both our nexus 7 2012 devices. Mine is a 32gb 3G version and my fiancee's is a nexus 7 126gb Wifi.

Both do the same thing, after 10 or 15 minutes of iplayer watching whether it's streaming or downloaded starts to jump/freeze/jerk all the time.

Anyone heard or seen about any known issues with iPlayer. Doesn't do it with anything else so not hardware I don't think?

Quite taken with my N7, i've slapped Purity ROM on there but to be honest I was expecting it to be a bit snappier, I guess it's because I am comparing it to my N5 which I believe has the faster Snap Dragon CPU.

Can you take a look at this vid and see if you think it's as snappy as it should be? It's running stock kernel which is packaged with Purity.
