Intel RMA - Very Good

It must be about 10 years since i've had to RMA any kind of drive, I guess i'm lucky but anyway my SSD died and I raised an RMA online last night.

First thing this morning I getting a call from Intel UK to talk about the RMA, what they are going to do, how long things should take, that they will arrange collection of the old drive for free, etc.

Very good Customer Service in my opinion! Still waiting for the details over email but so nice to actually have someone call you after something simple like a two year old SSD giving up the will to live.

Update:
--------------------

My opinion is souring. I called DHL to arrange a collection and they came and got it same day form my work.

Then they drop the parcel off saying it needs more paperwork - a waybill  I message Intel and get a call back the next morning. They said to leave it with them as i don't need one.

A few days later and the parcel is still sat at work.

Great for customer service but I think their process needs a lot of work.

Fantastic news! I've been looking at the 240GB but put off by not knowing about their RMA service and how they'd handle it. Glad you've got it sorted so quickly!

oh this is good to hear. would probably make people choose intel over the more popular samsun drives just to get good CS if anything bad happens

Yeah - I'm not sure people would swap just for that, OcUK help with RMAs also. I'd be more tempted by price vs performance and size.

Exactly and since there is nothing mechanical the failure rates are very low anyway. My money would be going to a 512gb mx100 if I were to buy a ssd right now

They look fantastic, but there are a fair few reports of the MX100 series freezing and causing BSODs, I'm hesitant!

I had an Intel X25 fail after a couple of years. They took just over a week (I think it was 10 days in total) to replace the SSD.

Haven't yet had to RMA a Samsung SSD, but I would hope they'd not "mess about" too much.

Trouble is Seagate bought Samsung's Hard Drive business and they now deal with the RMAs and they're pretty rubbish, see here for what happened when I sent them back a drive.

I've never had to use Intel's RMA but from what I've read they really are excellent.

You do pay slightly more for that compared to the likes of Samsung and Crucial though.

Hmm every company seems to have mixed CS reviews but that's just how it is
