Show us your kitty cats

I know most people propably are aware of this already but with the current hot weather we're having be careful that you don't run cats over that might be chilling under your car! My mate nearly ran his over yesterday backing out!

Funny you should say that, Frankie fell asleep like this in the bathroom, eyes open and everything, snoring away quite happily. I almost stood on him!

Both the cats were climbing on the fence this morning, tried to get a pic of them both, and as I took it, Dave jumped off, it now looks like he's dangling off :D

Actually I lied. I do care a teeny, weeny bit. So, I ask, what is the verdict on these?

http://www.thrivepetfoods.com/thriver-100-chicken-cat-treats

It's 100% freeze-dried chicken (they also do fish/liver). I can't think that could possibly do any harm even if kitty needs a "special" diet. Chicken is pretty similar to freshly killed robin/sparrow I'm guessing ;)

So unless we're going to claim that kitties diet is so special he can't even eat bird-meat, this would have to be OK, no?

My cat loves these, I buy them freom zooplus tho as cosmo snackies, so much cheaper. Do search zooplus well as they often have more than one offer on them at a time, sometimes buying multiple smaller packs is actually cheaper than buying the XXL economy pack

And I dare you to taste them and tell me it doesnt taste of fresh roast chicken!

AS fro dreamies my other cat loves those :p even tries opening the packs if theyre left lying around haha.
Armed with both you should be able to catch the wildest of felines :p

Yes it's not his cat but he's actually thought about it and not just thrown a cooked chicken wing or something at the cat.

Thanks, DW. I was going to buy from zooplus (they do have some good offers), but they have a min order of £15 (£17.50 with del).

Found the individual packs of Thrive/Cosimo on ebay for £4 inc del, which is about as cheap as I could find them anywhere. You don't get as much for your money but it's an experiment anyhow :p Kitty might not even like them!

Without doubt, the best toy for a cat, is a box.

Indeed any open box must be explored regardless of the contents, though mine has taken to getting into the laundry hamper annoying girl that she is.

Also mine goes nuts for Dreamies, its like crack for cats lol

Serious question, how do you choose?

Went to Woodgreen yesterday to look about getting a cat to fill the hole left a few months ago when Tikka had to be put to sleep (sudden lung trouble over a weekend).

Saw two, both were friendly, both black.

1) medium long hair, so will need constant combing.
Just got over cat flu but will always be a carrier.
Missing some fur where it was matted and cut.
Was a stray, so don't know how long it wasn't cared for.
Been at the shelter for 4 months.

2) short hair.
No known health problems.
Brought in because owners were too old.
Been at the shelter for a week or so.

My head says number 2 as it currently should be easier to settle.
My heart says 1 needs a break for once, but will be slower to settle.

How do I decide  Help! :(

If it were me I think it would come down to you just "know" if the cat is right for you.

Sorry I know that doesn't help but it's going to be your cat at the end of day, rather than weighing up the other merits, pick the one who you feel will be most at home with you.

My cat was a stray for no idea how long for and he was shot with an air-rifle and lost an eye. When I met him he was all over me and dribbling, now knowing his history I automatically thought he wouldn't be fond of humans but within 2 days of being at mine, he was roaming around as if he had lived there for years. Go figure? :D

He picked me, more than I picked that spoilt little sod :p

You might want to try either the Thrive or Cosma snacks you can get on Zooplus as they are freeze dried chicken and have no sugar in. My 2 boys goes nuts for them, I shake the tube and no matter where in the house they are they come stampeeding to me for the treats. They also love dreamies but never really get them, only if I have run out of the Cosma snacks. I prefer the Cosma ones as they are less powdery than the thrive ones.
