Might be the wrong time of the year but can anyone recommend a turbo?

Cycleops Fluid 2 worth a look in?

Do you have a budget? I've been looking at the Tacx iGenius which is around £700, I'm going to wait until the weather gets rubbish. Give me something to play with all winter :)

I (and most on here I think) have the Kurt Kinetic Road Machine

I went out in the rain one dark evening last winter. broke my chain, came home and swapped bikes, snapped a spoke, put in a new wheel and set it up on the turbo.
my cheap turbo wouldn't tighten properly and started wobbling around.
Went off in a rage and bought a Kurt kinetic rock n roll :p great turbo. Takes up a huge amount of space though.

I wanted that one, but doesn't fit in the tiny space I have

Question for the turbo/roller-ers with a garmin edge and cadence/speed sensor...

Can you get "distance" cycled per workout on the rollers? Or is it just speed/cadence/heart rate/whatever..

Yep. It's already using the revolutions at the rear wheel to calculate speed, for distance it just counts them up.

Right, mr wheel building man has said he'll post me some spacers for my new wheels.

If I'm really lucky they'll arrive tomorrow and I'll be able to get out for a ride on my new wheels, rather than just looking at them longingly...

Hopefully this doesn't get lost in this thread :)

Just submitted insurance claim for my bike £1500 now all being well they should payout.

I can't get out to test bikes yet due to my injuries , but I'm window shopping so to speak. I'm looking at putting another £500 towards the bike.

I'm not overly bothered about the quality of wheels on this bike as I have some decent handbuilt wheels.

Any suggestions on what to avoid/have a look at? Been looking at the new trek lightweight frame build.

Any help or suggestions would appreciated

Specialized Tarmac SL4? Brilliant frame.

That Viking Peloton 700C looks really good. Can't find a store that stocks them locally, would prefer to try one before I hit the Buy button. So far it's between that, the Carrera Subway from Halfords and the Norco Valence A4 2014 from Evans Cycles

That Norco doesn't seem to have a carbon fork, makes it not so great value. The Subway is a hybrid, so quite different to a specialized road bike. I don't know what bike to work schemes Decathlon are signed up for, but there's this which is basically the replacement for the hugely popular Triban 3 Red:
