Although it's not being given much coverage in the news, there is serious unrest in Libya. I have a Libyan colleague who I work with in the UK, who had to go back to Libya last week to address family issues there. Today I found out he was unfortunately shot dead yesterday by some rebels. This was very shocking to everyone in the office. It is a sad loss of life, especially as he was very talented.

I feel like I need to tell someone and bring the unrest in Libya to people's attention. We have it easy in Britain. Unfortunately others do not have it so easy in other contries.

Unfortunately we screwed up their country for them and left them to deal with the mess. It's been going on since we stopped bombing them but it has got worse recently.

yup should have let gaddafi be, less death with him and the same for iraq with saddam

I couldonly imagine syria as a total isis state by now if we had helped them.....

There are so many things happening in the world, the media can only bring so much to everyone's attention before everyone starts getting desensitised to bad news.

I mean, on top of the Gaza-Israel, Chinese Quake, Taiwanese Gas Explosion, Flooding Down South of UK, Syrian Rebels/Assard, Politician Quitting and Boy Abusing DJ, we have Ebola scare and Echos was death in Afghan and Iraq... trying to bring unrest issue in Libya lies really low down the list.

It's been all over the news:confused::confused: as well as the Royal Navy sending HMS Enterprise to aid the evacuation of British Nationals.

I mean in the last day or two, with the actual evacuation, I haven't seen any reporting. The number 1 result on google for BBC Tripoli is the weather forecast.

Just wondering where the latest reports are, thats all.

Lybia is not doing great but it's not Syria, which it would've been without the West's intervention. Like Syria, it would have dragged neighbours into the conflict as well.
In 2011, Syria had a much larger military force than Lybia, access to advanced Russian weaponry and a powerful security apparatus yet the country is now in ruins and hundreds of thousands are dead.

Before sprouting blind hatred towards anything Western/American, why don't you take some time to use your head?

Just because you don't read past the front page, it doesn't mean there's no news on Lybia.

lolwut?

Benghazi was almost completely surrounded by tank divisions and would have been crushed within days.

we only got involved apparently to stop civilian deaths but same thing happening in the gaza strip and no one bats an eye lid because their muslims being attacked by non muslims

How on earth is it our fault?

we are partially to blame for bombing libyas infrastructure and military units in what was supposed to be a NO FLY ZONE
but the west gladly twisted it from a no fly zone resolution to a remove the leader at all costs resolution

No, people got confused by media reports... it wasn't just a no fly zone.
All we did was lend a hand to one side... they chose to rise up, it would have been messy regardless of our incolvement. We'd either have a more drawn out conflict with the same result or a massacre in Bengazi, Gaddafi still in power and potentially a Syria type scenario.

Don't let your facts get in the way of his anti west hysteria for gods sake!!!!

Yup, the worst possible thing, taking sides in an uprising. It always will be seen by the people as outside interference to put a puppet in power. Changes of regimes are always messy but usually after a couple of years things calm down and the new regime gets going. Thanks to outside interference Libya is now a failed state and ripe for extremist takeover and destabilised southern neighbours. Well done Cameron and boy Hague - just what Europe needs on their doorstep.

UN says otherwise...
