ISIS and Islamic militants - discussion

Yea easy as that init! That's why its happened so often... oh wait.

It IS that easy, only ISIS don't have "weapons grade" (which is extremely radioactive) and only have access to "medical/study grade" which has 1000's of times less potency and as such you'd need a massive amount to make anything near as bad as the baseball sized one!

Weapons grade uranium isn't left just lying around in universities for people to steal. There is a reason why Iran doesn't have nuclear weapons yet and that's because it's so hard to enrich uranium to weapons grade levels and even for a large nation like Iran it's too difficult to steal it atleast not without help from dodgy Russians willing to sell on some old warheads.

Watched one of their propaganda videos a few moths back after hearing on the radio that british muslims are watching this video and then going over there to fight for them.

Beheading, torturing, executions, kidnapping, drive-bys and that god awful music is what all these videos was about. Really cannot get my head around how some person could watch it and think 'What a great cause, i want to fight for these guys'. Especially people who have grew up in the UK. This video was sick, proper sick.

Again though, kill these off. let the country run its self again and how long will it be till the next big group come along?

I'm not suggesting action shouldn't be taken but doesn't there need to be congressional approval or at least UN Security Councils' allowance of military action?

technically his slightly bigoted 'joke' can still work - most 'Indian' restaurants are run by Bangladeshi Muslims.

While true, we still know Deuse's feeling towards non white people of Anglo Saxon heritage and what his commentreally meant. :)

Be careful what you google around what ISIS are up to, unless you want to be seriously ****** off.

I was reading an article, can't remember where, about some brits over there fighting, and at the bottom they had decided to add some unedited images of ISIS' handy work. Children no older than 3/4 with their heads chopped off.

To say it's annoyed/disturbed me is an understatement.

While I approve of America's response, I don't think it should have stayed classified until at least the air strikes started. However, because it's been on the news beforehand, ISIS got given several hours warning to prepare for the attack.

Element of surprise and all.

To be honest with the arsenal of american weapons I would have thought they'd launch a barrage and wipe out most of ISIS in one swoop.

War, war, war, war. Nothing but wars! Thats all you hear on the news etc. What a world we live in.

War wouldn't be needed if it wasn't for certain groups of people.

Then again I guess if we wiped them out there would be another group to rally against.

Humans love war.

But that doesn't resolve the deeper problem here which is the failure of the Iraqi govt to work with the Sunnis. The US could quite easily join the fight but they're not intervening to simply fight on behalf of Iran, Syria and the current Shia dominated Iraqi regime.

They've taken limited action in response to a Kurdish city hosting some US staff being threatened by IS artillery. They're also concerned about religious minorities potentially facing a genocide - the Christians who are facing possible forced conversion or death and the 'devil worshipers' who IS would be fairly happy with simply killing on a large scale. The intervention is in response to those events... the larger issues re: divisions the Iraqis need to start working to resolve themselves - there isn't much the US can do about that from a military perspective, it requires more diplomacy.

Well, look at GKP the oil explorer, they are sat on reserves of Oil in the Kurdish regions but because Baghdad wont agree with the kurds about the cash, GKP cant ship any oil and this has been the case for years now. they can only sell some oil locally at a low price and not through Open type pricing mechanisms.

On a take over rumour they were 450p a share, then 200p a share, with ISIS at their front door - less than 70p a share.

But until the doors can be opened and agreements made between Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government then these companies sat on these fields cant do anything. This is just an example of the breakdown between the regions prior to ISIS. Its all about revenues and the percentages split between the KRG and the Iraqi government. Most of these fields sit in Kurdistan.

But suddenly the infrastructure of these fields in which maybe esso and exxon have stakes come under threat, the US jump in to push back IS and defend the assets.

Where are they bombing the rebels in Syria? Indeed they were trying to support them, but even since they determined that they shouldn't support them, they haven't exactly helped the Syrian regime to kick out the rebels either, thus causing a death toll to rise as the fighting goes on for another year.

Another oil explorer, Genel RNS just released.

Update regarding Kurdistan Region of Iraq

Following recent events in the vicinity of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq ('KRI'), Genel Energy plc can confirm that the Taq Taq and Tawke fields remain safe and secure. Operations there are unaffected, with combined gross production from both fields averaging c.230,000 bopd this week.

We remain confident in the Kurdistan Regional Government's ability to maintain the territorial integrity of both the KRI and oil infrastructure.

In line with moves by other operators, we are taking the prudent and precautionary step of withdrawing non-essential personnel from our non-producing assets in the region.
