***The Official LG Optimus G2 Thread***

If memory's an issue, you could always buy the 32GB version from Amazon.de

It works out roughly the same as shelling out for a 16GB version in the UK

That exactly what I did this afternoon :D

Plan is stick CM11 on it as soon as I can. I installed that on my g pad and it's a much better device for it.

Totally...and with the epic battery life it's a gem.

Stuck CM11 on my wife's G2 a couple of days ago and it's all the better for it but omg the Auto rotate thing in this phone is mighty frustrating, the accelerometer is just too damn sesnitive. I can't disable it totally because she likes to browse in landscape, its rage inducing! Anyone know a fix?

Also as the stock CM11 / Google camera app absolutely sucks ass I stuck on 'A Better Camera' app for her and it seems to give better results than stock.

just some info for you all

avoid CM 11 M7 at all costs as the camera crashes all the time

M8 and above are fine

I have made my own rom based on CloudyG3 1.2 which adds all the latest google apps found on the G3 (inc the new look playstore), and all other missing G3 apps such as cellbroadcast, LG smartworld, thinkfree, box etc etc I've been running it for the past two weeks and it's solid. Personally I find it better than CM 11.

Happy to host it somewhere if you want to try it out

Think I found a guide on YouTube where you can do everything on the phone

Using the towel root autorec method

I have the international variant imported from Germany, D802. stock rom being 4.2.2

The videos on youtube were very long winded to install recovery & flash a rom.

After loads of fiddling round (I've only played around with roms briefly in the past). Installing crynogenmod was very straightforward.

1) install towelroot for root access.
2) download CM11 for D802 plus Gapps. Load onto internal memory on phone.
3) install flashify from the play store. Download & Install latest TWRP recovery from app.
4) boot to recovery (from flashify), backup rom, wipe cache, install ROM + Gapps.

I've always shied away from none stock phones because I've hated all custom UI's that I have seen but this g2 is the perfect compromise. Great hardware with enhanced stock android in CM.
