Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16th - 20th August 2014]-LvGOUT!

It's not just Manyoo in isolation, though. If the wider group of Glazer businesses is relying (to an extent) on the club's revenue, and/or cash in the bank, that could mean there's less money than you think to spend.

I said something like this in another post afterwards (as I knew you'd likely bring it up).

I still think, regardless of that, there's plenty of money to spend if we want to.

Glad that anti-football didn't get a result today. We weren't great, we had a lot of bad moments but even positives can be drawn from a bad day.

Sanchez had a whole heap of "nearly" moments, on another day one of those comes off. We looked rock solid defensively, Chambers was strong once again - although I imagine if we'd had BFG we wouldn't have conceded.

Just need to ride out August and see what we can do when we have a full squad.

Well it doesn't matter how you do it, just get the job done somehow and today arsenal got the result in the end.

FairPlay to Palace they did as well as they could have expected.

Roll on Tuesday.

I wish Redknapp would have shut up and let Carra explain zonal marking properly so that we don't get the moronic comments about zonal marking every week.

I can't remember seeing Arsenal as wasteful as that in recent times, so many passes go astray from 5-10 yards.

Cazorla in particular, seemed to give the ball away every time he had it.

What the hell is Wenger playing at putting Sanogo on instead of Giroud....

Bit of a risk sure but it's also Palace at the Emirates, the team he put out should have been, and was good enough to beat them and they have a massive CL qualifier (in terms of importance) on Tuesday where I imagine Giroud will start.

United's squad just isn't good enough. It is a mid table side with De Gea, Rooney, Van Persie and Mata.

We no longer have Ferdinand, Vidic, and Evra and apart from possibly Luke Shaw we have bought no one of equal quality to replace them.

If we don't buy a few world class defenders and a Vidal type midfielder before the window closes we won't qualify for Europe.

A new man has come in with a whole new way he wants them to play. I imagine it's similar to Martinez joining after Moyes in that it will take a few games to get the players doing exactly what he wants in games. Only Evra had anything left about him for more than a handful of games last season anyway. It's too early to suggest you won't get CL football because you lost one game with a new man and new system. Yeah he needs to add players and it's curious why he hasn't but I still think the side should be in 4th at the end of the season.

He's still an absolute **** of a player though

Should have seen a red card for that. Thought it was poor that he wasn't sent off at the time.

Enjoyed being back at Old Trafford, was hoping for a better result (and performance) to kick start the Louis van Gaal era, alas a good time in Manchester though.

Could not stand the boo's ringing out after the final whistle.

Manchester United need signings and to improve, not to mention removing the rot that has infested the club. Hope this game made it very obvious to anyone in doubt.
