Really? Huh. I was under the impression X79 gave you x16 on all slots. Ah well i guess it won't matter too much. The main thing is I'll have a better chance at competing in some of the bench threads now. :p

Kaap says it's not a great clocker, but it can go up to 4.9ghz so hopefully i can settle around 4.5 or so for day to day.
 
If you can get it to work you'll end up with 16x8x8 as the black slot shares. :(

If/when you watercool you'll get 16x16x8 as you'll use the first three slots. :D

^ Nice one. Well that extra space slot will be great for my OCD temp wise. I may be able to get all three cards operating at identical temps now. I'm going to send my P8Z77 WS back to offset most of the cost of this new board.

Yeah, not for long though.
5960x will sort that out lol.

You only get 40 (iirc) pci-e lanes so you'd never get 16x for 3/4.

I will have to learn how to overclock as reading a review i see you get to mess around with a strap with SB-E. I've been spoilt with my 2700K as it was basically pick LLC, set voltage and just up the turbo multiplier with nothing else to consider.

I hope so, but I've never used a strap so it will be something new to learn. Hows SB-E for memory overclocking and timings? Better than a 2700K on Z77 i presume? Since adding my third card my memory is no longer stable at 1T anymore, regardless of voltage used.

Hah, you've not even tried three yet! I'm very unlikely to add a fourth anytime soon. Three seems ideal for 1440P and complete overkill in BF4. It's weird seeing yourself bounce off the 200 FPS cap at 1440P Ultra in BF4.
