Ebola scaremongering?

it doesn't he's being a dick.

Not really. Malaria (and other vector-borne diseases) is confined to regions that are both relatively poor and generally not inhabited by white people. As a result, even though it's still a huge problem that kills millions of people, the attention it receives from the West outside of the work of a few dedicated NGOs is almost non-existent.

Shouldn't be transporting anyone in to be honest, harsh but they know the risk before hand.

Agreed, but for different reasons.

Rather than spending however many thousands of pounds (hundreds of? millions? Who knows how much it costs to fly a specially equipped C-17 and then have a police escort to the hospital) to bring one person back to treat them, why not spend the money to improve the treatment being offered where they were working in the first place? I'm sure the local population are so happy to watch white people being flown away whilst they're left to fend for themselves.

Risking your life to help others must be deserving a reward or at least an attempt to save his life.

He was helping (as much as he could) ebola victims when the local doctors had fled apparently. Hardly likely he contracted ebola by looting an infected clinic.

Regardless, we are inadvertently saying to West Africa that their lives are not worth as much as one of ours.

It appears the vast majority believe the whites cause it. I don't see how we can make it appear any different.

Umm, I've already said how? By not utilising millions of pounds worth of military hardware, police escorts and entire areas of a hospital to save one persons life and instead spending that money on helping people in West Africa.

No, we aren't what we are saying is we have a duty of care to our citizens and if they want people to actually go over there and help them so they don't have to rely on the local witchdoctor then they need to consider the fact that the numbers would be drastically reduced if no safety net was provided.

Maybe instead of spending all this money we could have left alone and let it burn out like it normally does.

Yeah but I'm sure there's thousands like me who'd refuse to sacrifice one of our own to appease a foreign nation who mistrust us as it is.

It's not like they don't have any money. We've probably spent a few million collectively by sending doctors/aid/supplies. Let alone any aid we send normally or anything we export from there.

Its not like were just leaving it to burn out.
