Should I buy a lamborghini?

Gallardo is bad on UK roads in my opinion.

Worse ride quality than the GTR was, very cramped inside, killer servicing and maintenance.

Plus the pre LP models look very dated now.

With my "budget" I could have bought a used LP570 but I am glad I had a good drive first because unless you have perfect roads it is horrible. E-Gear is total crap also and good luck trying to find a used manual!.
Then if you do find a manual the pedal offset is nuts due to the wheel arches (really meant to be a LHD car).

Look at the R8 V10 with a manual gearbox and if you are over 6ft don't bother with the Spyder as the roof folding mechanism means it has 2" or so less leg room than the coupe.

One month until my R8 starts getting built :D and I am still happy with my choice over everything else up to ~130k ish.

I thought you already had the R8?

Also I don't know how similar the R8 and gallardo are (some people say they are the same) but the pedal offset is not existent on the R8?

However the most important question is, are you a powerfully built company director ;)

Nah it has been on order for 6 months now, when the new S-Tronic gearbox was released the global sales went nuts so there is big wait if you want a new one built even if you want a manual.

There is some pedal offset in the R8 but it isn't as bad as the Gallardo.

I was trying to find a picture of both versions in manual but basically there is almost no dead pedal footrest in the Gallardo because everything is shifted over so much. Left foot all the way to the left and you are still over the clutch pedal (unless you have size 6 feet or something).
In the R8 there is a normal dead pedal but everything is shifted over a bit, the accelerator is just under the inside of the steering wheel rather than to the right of it.

Hard to explain without pictures.

No thanks :p

Only Porsche I want is the 918 Spyder! Would take that over a P1 or the theferrari any day!

Id take any GT3 over an R8 to be frank, never really got the R8, looks wise it's really very marmite from some angles and drive wise, though very competent a bit like the GTR, lacking a bit of involvement.

You should try and 996 GT3 with track alignment on the road and then come back and tell me a Lambo is bad :)

I did, it was yours and it drove like a cat D, felt like not one wheel was pointing in same direction and wanted to kill me at first opportunity. ;)

Gallardo was my dream car, talking the earlier ones with V10 and 4WD, always wanted one, then I got to drive one at Silverstone and not talking your usual experience day I had all gears and full revs. I came away feeling:-
Pedal offset is awful and too small for my feet.
Can't see anything due to side windows being so small.
It felt and dare I say this numb, poor steering and 4WD took away feel.
It was epic fast but did not feel it.

What did I like? Looks, noise and the gatored classic manual shifter, but I was left feeling disappointed. So I took out a F360 F1 and I absolutely loved it, incredible feedback, steering and it felt faster though it was not but as a drivers car the Ferrari completely owned the Lambo.

Back to planet earth trying to own either is near impossible due to running cost so I went with a 911, practically as good as driving experience as the Fezza but with reasonable running cost.

I'm in the car zone again at the moment it must be said. I go from save, clear the mortgage and clear the decks, to mates dying young, one life, don't wait for tomorrow. I am missing the social aspects of having a nice motor and being able to hook up with petrol head friends at weekends for a long drive or head across Europe for a tour, which I did in the GT3. It's a balance of course, but I am currently scanning car adds for something that catches my eye. I might do nothing (likely) or I might end up with something special, though most likely this will be a next year thing.

Pretty much why I like it.

Looks work for me, V10 sound is awesome, gated manual shifter is more involving than the GTR was and it is as "easy" to drive without wanting to try and kill me.

Sure it doesn't have the involvement of your GT3 but I don't want that, I want a nice daily driver and fun car to go to meets with. Not a race car!

Each to their own, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Did exactly the same but preferred the Lambo... Ferrari shift felt laggy, didn't feel that quick but it was better to be inside and both sounded awesome ofc

Maybe...
used or new?

New/Huracan:
you should, if you don't care about losing 20% of the value just for driving out of the dealer.

Used:
yes, if your budget is higher than the price of the car... lets say your budget is 80k, don't buy one that is more than 70k, because if something goes wrong you still have 10k to cover it.

Your fix was definitely needed :D any idea what the going rate is for a top-spec FH16 750?

Well over 90k a two year old can fetch 70k easy, my mate (ex-boss) has just brought some FH's but not the 750 :(. Loads more road presence than a Lambo and you can earn money with them too.

Please don't tell them I'm not a company director. I'm not powerfully built either, nor do I own a Supercar. I've been living the lie for years.

I think that company director thing came from a bloke I had a run in with on PH few years back. Real chippy idiot who was all mouth and trousers, lived in or around Nottingham I seem to recall. I called his bluff when he started coming out with all sorts of rubbish. Offered me out on the forum, offered others out too, really aggressive sort. Oh how we laughed, not sure he was powerfully built but he was a vigintillionaire Director I believe. :D

Nah, I'm wrong, he was just a ****** nothing to do with the other bloke.

Naah.

Having driven both, bearing in mind Scania are at the end of model life of the R series and the Volvo FH is the first if a new generation, I still think the Scania pips it (just!) the power delivery IMO of the V8 is just so much better than the Volvo's 6 pot.

Unfortunately, Volvo don't make a 16litre V8 and at this power / weight the six pot in the FH IMO really let's it down.

The next generation Scania with the V8 (probably ballpark 800bhp) should be a class act. Should......

Anyway, did the OP buy his Lamborghini and how's he getting on with it? :)
