Capital One Cup - Second Round ** Spoilers ** [26/27 August 2014]

So far it'd be unfair to compare Moyes and LvG, but for his opening games Moyes did have a stronger and more experienced squad with fewer injuries. Over time the clearly better manager in LvG would have shone through, assuming they had the same teams.

I think as the ESPN article shows, a change in system would be wise. If we can bring in a holding midfielder (and can use Carrick there too), then we'd be all set and have a very capable team. At the moment we've got square pegs in round holes at wing back and inexperienced centre backs, and that's what's killing us, they can't even pass it well between them.

I don't care about teamsheets, it was a simple question that didn't need arrogant replies. Please, get off that high horse before you fall and hurt your back. :)

Arrogant? It's like me posting in the formula 1 thread asking why Ferrari aren't winning the championship because they have Schumacher.

I love it how you state this as fact as opposed to opinion! :D

Facts hurt?

No, it's just so simple how you view it all really.

"fresh off a title win" which actually makes it so much harder to motivate players.

It's easy getting to the top, it's hard staying there.

PS..your experienced defenders were done...legs were gone unfortunately..

Yes I can see City struggling with that already. It's far easier going into a season when you have the confidence of knowing you've beaten the best than knowing you've let down a legion of fans and the pressure is on you to recover.

You say it like City have already won the title.

I'd also take the player that has something to prove over players that have just won something. It leads to mistakes thinking youre the best, lack of concentration or whatever..not being meticulous.

moyes would've been under far more pressure than lvg. not as experienced, stepping into ferguson's boots, trying to build rapport with united's biggest player (again, after it became common knowledge they weren't bosom buddies). lvg has it comparitively cushty and will be given time for that reason and has essentially had the slate wiped clean.

i believe he will come good but tonights game was a school boy error. one moyes would've been crucified for, even this early on. mostly because a lot of fans didn't want him in the first place. most united fans seemed to welcome lvg with open arms.

LvG may have quite possibly (or certainly) underestimated how fired up almost all smaller teams are when they play a big team. Giggs should have told him, though. How many times have Arsenal/ourselves/City/Chelsea/Liverpool been dumped out of these competitions by much weaker sides, quite a lot.

He may have also overestimated a fair few of our young players, given that they did look good in pre-season. It's not a good measure of anything but if a player has a great game up against Gareth Bale, even when he's not fully fit, you don't expect the same player to completely crumble against a team like MK Dons.

I get other fans love to take the **** but it's not really a huge deal, considering the team we played. It should have gone a lot better, even so, but they all wilted badly. It is what it is.

All these overnight MK Dons fans should take a step back, the next round hasn't been played yet, you could be drawn against a top premiership team!
