I only just upgraded from a single core to a I7 4770K last year - Will most likely upgrade again next year sometime, hopeful that all the bugs/problems/chipset problems with the new motherboards will be ironed out as well that may arise. Also with the price of DDR4/New Co-Pros prices might come down abit as well!

Skylake cpus are expected to arrive during mid 2015 with the k cpus during late 2015 or early 2016. I think in late 2016 we may also see Skylake E cpus. Personally I am waiting for this architecture.

I'll wait until the next revision, or just a while for it to mature a bit. I can't justify the cost to upgrade from my 3930K on X79.

Skylake is expected 2H of 2015 with a good chance of being delayed to early 2016.

Broadwell will fill the gap for a year.

my guess is we'll get Skylake K at the same time as the next AMD Dual card.

BUT it's not worth starting a new DDR4 rig yet, because we dont have the Gigabyte Soc Force or the cheap RAM..........

Broadwell wont fill the gap, it's not powerful enough.......unless we're wrong of course and they release a real monster !!!!!

conclusion :- i wouldn't buy anything yet, just in case AMD bounce back and i think they will

It's mainly the RAM that is too high priced imo.. there's like at least a £100 premium over ddr3, silly pricing. Some of the boards prices aren't too bad.

I think only RAM is expensive to be honest. We have very well priced motherboards and also 5820K is a steal.

DDR4 is new tech as we all know so this high pricing was to be expected.

Ive gone down the 5820k route with a asus deluxe and avexir platinum 16gb,

Im only using 1x 780ti at the moment but might upgarde to a second, WILL I
in real terms benefit in gaming by getting the 5930k

Not for the extra outlay, no. TBH the 5830k is only essential when you start looking at 3 & 4 card setups

Thanks for the confirmation. All I will do then is upgrade my ddr4 to some white ones when oc get stock

Wife + (kidsx2)*School uniforms + new bathroom = Latest CPU family - (3xRevisions) + Lots of sucking up

Still being on Sandybridge and not sucking up enough in the summer means I have to sit this one out.

For me, this new chip is not fast enough to trigger an upgrade.

The x79 holds its own, for another year.

I voted maybe. Although my i7 990x does seem to run fine, it feels a bit long in the tooth with so many other newer options.

Whether I would notice any difference with real world gains, I am not sure.
