*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

I have a blue controller from launch and aside from some smoothing on top of the right stick, it's fine.

Also prefer the sticks to the Xbox sticks as when I played on a mates Xone I found the sticks too small.

Must admit that I've really taken to the DS4. I was a hard core 360 user and honestly thought the pad couldn't be bettered but after recently plugging a 360 pad into my PC for some gaming it feels really cumbersome compared to the DS4.

Kojima just tweeted this photo of MGS V PS4 HDD covers. They look awesome.

Themes yo! And those covers look nice!

Pretty cool that it switches to the roof when you go to the top bar xD

I suspect the guys with issues are heavy users or have grubby mitts.

My first DS4 rubber split after about a month, I replaced the sticks with a batch off eBay and picked up a second controller fairly recently and neither show any signs of wear after far more use - it was probably a specific batch of controllers that were faulty.

I didn't know you could change the covers??? Are they going to be sold separately?

It comes off so you can access the HDD, but it hadn't occurred to me that Sony (or third-parties) could sell replacement ones. I'm assuming they'll be sold on their own but chances are they'll be a Japan exclusive as all the fancy stuff often is.

Either way, I want one.

Tell me why! I don't like Mondays......

I am getting old. I have upgraded my HDD to 2TB:rolleyes:

I was bored one day so I wrapped my HDD cover in carbon, not sure why out of all the things I could have chosen to do, I chose that :p

Two black controllers from launch here, no issues with the sticks yet. If I look real close there appears to be the slightest signs of use but no flaking.

There's no doubt there is/was a problem with the rubber on the sticks but fortunately neither of my controllers have had much prolonged day to day use.

I've played through Killzone, CoD, BF4, MGS, Infamous & had two playthroughs of TLoU but I'm not someone that puts a couple of hours in to CoD/FIFA online every night. I suspect the guys with issues are heavy users or have grubby mitts.

Mine were fine for 6 months - then after 1 week of playing Trials Fusion they flaked instantly. That game alone did mine. I think they would have lasted years playing other games.

the only tricky part when changing the sticks is cracking open the casing.

I found it quite difficult and felt like it was going to break but all was good when I finally opened it up. I did pop one of the triggers out though which is a bit fiddly to connect back up with the little spring.

One thing I find confusing is some ebay sites sell ps4 version xbox one sticks and xbox one sticks , I take it both are the same? , anyone else notice this.

My goodness. There really ought to be a separate thread for discussing Xbone sticks on DS4. This is about the ninth time...

Is there a guide to do this and how easy is it ?

It really is easy, even with the problem below being really careful and slow I still did it in about 15 minutes. Now I know what to expect probably doable in under 10.

One thing I would note which (annoyingly) no-one seems to mention in any video guide, when putting the controller back together all the guides I could find explained that you just plug the touch pad ribbon cable back in but when I did it though my touch pad didn't work which after some investigating I found out why. The plug for the ribbon cable is under the black plastic cover for the circuit board but there is a hinged clip on the plug which holds the ribbon cable in place. To access it just unclip the plastic cover (one clip on either side) plug the ribbon cable in and then I closed the clip with the end of my needle nosed pliers.

I hope this makes sense when you watch a guide or have the controller apart in front of you.

Looking at doing this now, one my pads is wearing out now, What is the general consensus on the best replacement Xbox or eBay PS4 versions?

I got my XB1 style sticks from green zone on ebay. Ordered from them because they are in the UK so delivery is a couple of days instead of a week or two with some of the China ones. I can't comment on how long they last as I have only had them a few days but they look good quality and do feel nice to use.

Posted the video for it earlier, no one seems to care for themes now! :D
So posting again! But check it around 10 seconds in. Apparently the home music changes depending on the theme too (not in the video), keep forgetting it has music as I muted mine xD

Ah fair enough! :D But to quickly explain it, when you go to the upper menu for friends, party etc, the theme changes to the roof of the house they're in, thought it was neat :)
