ISIS and Islamic militants - discussion

My gut reaction is it's about time the surrounding middle eastern countries themselves started dealing with their own messes like this. I know it's not realistic to expect that but if we keep having to step in playing world police decade after decade at some point something is going to give and we'll end up with the whole mess on our doorsteps.

Its the Yanks having to show off how powerful they are and poke their nose in everyone else s business and think they have the right to tell other countries how things should/shouldn't be done..then of course they pull us in too because our leaders are complete....

But so sad about the latest news,my thoughts are with his family.

As far as im aware Only the main leader has shown his face..the scumbag who keeps beheading people (with the English accent) never shows his face...why?...because hes a coward..i hope they do the same to him but slow and painful.

Nobody deserves to die like that,its just sick.

They haven't stood up to much tbh,

The Iraqi army threw it's weapons to the ground and ran away, so far they seem to be very good at executing hostages, civilians, and pretty much anybody who doesn't convert to them,

In my opinion, they're bluffing - they know the west doesn't want to re-deploy, (we've only just packed up from there) so they can run their mouths off all they like and behead unarmed men/women/children/hostages - no doubt they will continue to do so, until we re-deploy, *IF* we re-deploy,

I didn't mean in the physical sense of standing up.

There aren't many in the world brave/bold enough to behead western citizens and threaten that there will be more unless they (the west) back off.

Like I said, they are scum doing scummy things, but they are bold (and stupid) enough to do them.
 
Hope they get that Jihadi John, do the governments know any info of where he is?

The other week the media was reporting that they (special forces) were closing in on him.

For what it's worth you wouldn't find me within a country mile of them! (not unless i'm tucked up safely inside an A10 warthog)

It's all ******** unfortunately. They haven't got a clue who he is or where he is. The latest info is that isn't that rapper from Maida Vale after all.

In the west we like to think our special forces are super human and can do the impossible on a regular basis but they are just men - very fit and very brave but nonetheless I doubt they're operating behind enemy lines right now - far too much risk of one of them getting caught ala Bravo Two Zero and beheaded. I don't believe that US special forces mounted a raid on IS to rescue the two US journalists either, I seem to recall the same story coming out about the SAS mounting a raid to rescue Ken Bigley but he'd been moved days beforehand. It's just propaganda to make us feel better that with a bit of luck things might have been different.
 
My two penneth. I think this will get real interesting when IS get near to Dubai, or Saudi and the money starts getting threatened, then maybe the non radacalised element will start to clean house.
 
Carve up IRAQ it is the only answer. As for Syria well we have no hope there due to Russian interest and we need to play the long game with Putin. Let Russia keep arming and funding ASSAD.

The Saudis have a very powerful and modern day army that equals our own and US. They be slaughtered by their Airforce while the Army mops up.
