Formula E 2014/2015 season

The video on youtube interviewing the drivers talked about having to do it in less than a minute and it being very close.

No idea if that "have to" was just their goal for the test race or something backed by penalty.

I've not been following the other thread so haven't been following the technology. Shame to see they aren't doing a battery swap and have opted for a car swap instead, but I'll tune in and have a watch nonetheless :)

Not followed this at all, only seen the odd post here and there on the motorsport sites I visit. I'll give it a go tomorrow. I like the fact that almost every team has an ex F1 driver that I recognise, makes it slightly easier for me to tune into.

I thought the minute was the minimum limit. I.e. they have to stop for 1 minute, even if they manage to swap cars in 40 seconds. Therefore the fastest anyone can stop is 1 minute, but any longer than 1 minute is time lost.

A lot of GT races use the same structure. There is a minimum time for the stop to ensure there isn't an incentive to cut corners on safety in order to make stops quicker (people doing belts up as they drive out the pits, plugging themselves in whole driving round, etc).

Who's up for this then?

My girlfriend is an avid F1 watcher but has been sceptical about FE. However, watching ITV's intro she's already said it sounds like they are trying to make it more fun.

I'm keeping an open mind. :)

Honestly don't know who I'm going to cheer for in this. I'm quite interested in how the women get on, in particular Legge.

It's the first race, none of them (or the cars) have ever done this before.

Once they get some data and experience, we'll see them speed up a bit I'm sure.

god the sound is awful :p I can't listen to this for hours at a time. No wonder there's a DJ to entertain the crowd
