Formula E 2014/2015 season

It's the first race, none of them (or the cars) have ever done this before.

Once they get some data and experience, we'll see them speed up a bit I'm sure.

They did a complete practice race weekend at Donington Park, so this is the 2nd time they are doing this.

Souless to me, sounds like the little electric motorbikes I used to ride by the seaside with the bumpers round them. :D I will watch the first season but I'm struggling to care.

I love it - but I've got three ebikes as well so I'm all over anything electric :-)

They are going to work on that next year when the development of the cars open up but some are talking about possibly using bigger/higher density batteries that can last the whole race, but one disadvantage might be a lower peak power. The current batteries are 18 months old in design, so there is room for improvement just by updating them to current technologies.

Currently, the cars CAN do the whole race distance on one battery - but they'd be slow(er). So in order to keep the racing speeds at the peak, they opted for a mandatory car/battery change midway. Even then, they still had to dial the power down from quali to race.

Some thoughts..

- Great to see a new series that is all electric, although we all know how dirty batteries are but at least it will drive development.
- Lots of decent drivers/teams.
- Cars can run nice and close but drafting seems non-existent.
- More onboard shots needed.
- Street circuits are rubbish, want to see them on national/international circuits.
- ITV SD is terrible and you can hardly read text on screen.

Understood, I will come back when the technology is there, when they can run the race on a charge and be quick. Until then I can't put up with the lack of noise :(

I thought I could but it lacks soul for me. A1GP in silence.

.

Close because they are monitoring gaps to manage battery power or because they are so closely matched? Could prost have scampered off at half a second per lap or was he just making sure the other car was 1 second behind? The same for the other cars?

I'm not sure.

Prost needs kicking out of the series for that.

Good to see that the cars can take a hit like that though.

That crash could have killed him! They have to rethink those curbs!

Poor by Prost, entertaining finish though!
