Both of you are assuming this won't have any repercussions at home. If IS "wins", they could well turn their attention to stirring up trouble here, in the US, everywhere.

And of course we'll have all those lovely jihadists returning "home" with their triumphant cries, preaching in UK mosques, calling on muslims to fight against the west and expand islam across the whole world.

Basically, they'll be emboldened, they'll have no problems recruiting, and their next targets will probably be closer to home.

The only way for them to win is if they get a good segment of the global sunni population on there side, just cant see that happening most people dont buy into endless war against most of humanity.

There already doing the preaching jihad thing. 500/ 2.5 million muslims have joined up. That's been going on since 2001, yes battlefield victory gives them more legitimacy but it doesn't make a wider group of people want to join them.

They'll keep trying though, like with the beheadings seems like they want the US or UK to do a knee jerk reaction of some sort. Apparently they have western female hostages, imagine the reaction if they behead them?

"win" what exactly? a small piece of northern Iraq and a bit of Syria?

they will have big problems recruiting from the other sects and the other sects will out gun them.

you need to remember that "Muslims" aren't one big group.


these guys are already starting to grate with iran, much better to wait for it to grow to a proper fight between them all then the west can use that as a base to actually build some sensible diplomacy with the middle east where for once we wont be the guys invading or funding dictators but coming in to help the majority of them against a common threat.


going in now just means another group starts up in a few years tim e, putting the west on good terms with the major players in the middle east is worth a lot more than a few dead civilians in the mean times.

of course they want the US/UK going in fighting a bunch of white evil westerners gains a lot more support than slaughtering fellow Muslims.

as it is they can only recruit from their own groups, a fight against the west gives them a legitimate common enemy to recruit more broadly.

asl ong as we stay out of it they cant benefit from it and will push themselves i to a position where they're in conflict with Muslims much more than the west.
 
They have yet another british captive lined up for execution, Alan Henning.

I just cannot imagine what it must be like to be one of those voluntary aid workers knowing what fate almost certainly lies ahead.

Hope they might live I suppose? Guaranteed death to try and escape? Or hope they may not kill you \o/.

I would rather try and escape because these guys dont care they will kill you either way.

I cant honestly know my reaction in such a situation untill it happens.

Easier said than done no doubt. Imagine being in that situation, attempting to fight against thugs with knives and guns who would take you down in a second. Absolutely not a cats chance in hell, especially if you're not a fighting type and are paralysed with fear.

Of course, they might just have their hands tied up anyway.
 
Although I doubt you'd think too logically in such a situation but its unlikely they'd kill you for trying to escape. They're all about the big show on the Internet they can't have that if you die off camera.

When a captive survivor in Iraq went public back in 2006 (I think) they said there is a constant dialogue and closer to execution they will start being nicer. You tend to Stockholm a bit, then they give you a sense of relief and even belief you can get out of it. Even lie about a bounty getting paid on your behalf and that it will soon all be over.

It's not as simple as you may think. They may even let the next one go, to create the illusion that sometimes is possible. It makes future captives more likely to conform.

It's a disgusting tactic, but not much different to how we interrogate minus the beheading part.

It's pretty obvious Obama and Co. is waiting for them to grow further to justify a bigger war, with Jihaddi John as the poster villain.
 
Nerve gas the areas of syria/iraq that isis occupy, yes there will be civilian casualtys. But those people are living under hell already under theese people. Places like raqqa in syria are doomed already under the rule of theese subhumans.

Lol, of course because it's only America, it doesn't include 39 other countries including Islamic countries in the area. Think you'll find it's more to do with governments hands being tied as the public are to stupid and they have to wait for public opinion to come around,
