ISIS and Islamic militants - discussion

Well he is hardly going to come out on camera and say we know where you are is he.

No, but the press have been running stories for weeks on how the net is closing in - one of the Sunday papers had some illustrations of how an SAS raid on jihadi john might look. That comes from government imo - maybe not the minister but someone (probably a fantasists who works for the MOD) is briefing the press with this stuff ("sources close to the MOD etc).

It's this sort of blind faith optimism that I find very worrying - oh don't worry about IS, they aren't playing by the rules so will inevitably fail sooner rather than later. I fear IS will be around for considerably longer than this correspondent thinks.

You give value to the ramblings of someone who thinks being loud and using long words adds weight to their point? No thanks. He's as much an idiot as the people he tries to shoot down.

He's an entertainer essentially and obviously shouldn't be the first source of politics but he makes some sound criticisms. Hardly an idiot for being articulate and directing focus to political issues.

Granted, he doesn't propose solutions but if he's making politics even more accessible to everyone (especially the youth) then it sparks an interest which is incredibly important. That very solution could sit in the mind of todays youth.

"Being articulate" does not equate to using big words for means other than making the point. "Being articulate" means using appropriate words to be unambiguous. Brand does it to wow the audience, point be damned.

maybe he wants to educate them in more ways than one.

Fingers crossed but I bet the majority of the ones who don't understand a word would simply find something else to watch than find out what it means :D. I like brand he's amusing sometimes and does tend to raise good points.

Anyway more importantly CNN(sorry), are reporting that isis have banned children from social studies and maths .

First they can't sort out their branding and now they're having to get their own prisoners to do their propaganda videos.

Sort it out IS, if Sky News think Kay Burley is good enough for them I'm sure one of your guys couldn't do any worse!

Who would bother listening to one of their guys screaming like an animal, wouldnt it be the same old god is great crap as they kill an unarmed civillian.

No homo, but you seriously impress me with the political information you post on OcUK. It's certainly brought my attention to matters/concepts I hadn't even considered.

Thank you!

notsureifsrs  You must have me confused with someone else as I usually avoid the political debates :p they're a minefield and I admittedly don't know enough.!

So IS are going around beheading British citizens and broadcasting to the entire internet, and at the same time taking over ever greater swathes of land in Iraq and Syria. In the UK gangs of Muslim men are operating paedophile networks to abuse vulnerable non-Muslim girls. It's good to see our Home Office is focused on tackling an even greater problem facing the UK though - the rise of the far right due to IS and the Rotherham child abuse scandal.

I heard it on the radio before, a window in a mosque has been smashed.

Despite the US airstrikes and supplies being given to Kurdish forces, IS are still on the front foot: http://www.theguardian.com/world/20...litants-seize-kurdish-villages-northern-syria

I tell you, you underestimate these guys at your peril.

Air strikes are never going to really beat a ground occupation. Boots needed on the ground etc. Imagine boots were put on the ground, it would spiral down into gorilla and skirmish warfare as they disappear into the local populace and we'd dominate the ground.
