Was that the nonsense eadz36 was going on about a couple of years ago? Just to make it 100% clear I think that a literal reading of Revalations is just as wrong as a literal reading of Genesis.
The End Times are probably as just around the corner as they have always been...

I am kind of on that level, maybe that is simply wishful thinking...according to all the scriptures, something will happen somewhere, sometime...
Do you reckon that never in all time have so many people of faith see the end very near?
I mean Israel becoming a state again fifty years ago is the cornerstone to the prophecies.
Such questions are pure speculation from our point of view, but vested interest logic can identify some awkward conclusions.
You misunderstand me. I do not believe in prophecy and I certainly don't believe in any End Times nonsense. Some People of Faith always seem to feel the end is very near and have done for many hundreds of years. The deadline for the Jehovah's witness' has passed a couple of times at least and the various millennial cults have had two cracks of the whip and we are still here.
Even Revelations itself has been pegged to several historical time points along with it being allegorical or poetic in nature. Sorry to say the world really isn't ending and is probably more peaceful than it has been in many, many periods past.
There area few things in Revelations, especially concerning Israel which are very very literal and specific and even if there was any truth to it currently quite a long way from actually happening - and those are the very early/initial stages of the prophecy. Some of the rest is obviously analogous of nature.
IS sell oil from their oilfields to various countries. Then they get money from our EU partners when they pay the ransom on their citizens. Saudi and Qatar also fund the Syrian rebels and weren't too fussed which group as long as they were fighting Assad.

Speaking to my younger brother earlier yesterday who lives in the golan heights in israel, tensions are starting to crank up there. Recent rocket attacks and the witdrawl of un forces on the syrian side have led to a bit of mobilization of some israeli units in that area.

I can't even remember which bits came from where now, infact most of my knowledge of it comes from a book that dramatised it based as prophesied (without artistic license) but there are some very specific events in regards to Israel before any of the other bits supposedly come to pass, and even if there was any truth to it as things stand we are decades from those things being likely to happen.
The cash they stole is only useful in the short term in the areas is occupy. Once those towns are surrounded and is are cut off from resupply that paper money is more useful for rolling a ciggy. Their back hand oil sales will dissapear quickly too. Eventually i can see the more moderate sunni factions in iraq turning on is due to their brutality and their use of far to many foreigners. Something that doesnt sit well with the iraqi people. Couple that with us air strikes and arming and training of local forces to counteract theese guys they wont last a long time. Western troop amounts on the ground will be very small, mainly sf units such as delta, seals, sas etc. Or even the use of pmc firms such as xe, (formerly blackwater) who employ many ex sf soldiers for training purposes.

Could it be you are underestimating the speed at which events might happen?

I do find it intriguing that Israel is mentioned, the way they behave it wouldnt surprise me if they launched nukes at all the muslim countries they could reach if they felt threatened enough.
