**** Sony Xperia Z3 ****

luckily I get 20% off vodafone contracts...plus my exisitng contract runs out in 2 weeks so there may be a deal to be had with retention

I will try to get the 4gig data tariff for the same price as the 1 gig one..then get my 20% on top of that..so hopefully get a unlimited/unlimited/4gig for about 31 quid

They don't usually let you do that. The EAP team will probably decline the discount request. You're not even supposed to get EAP and Quidco. I wouldn't rely on getting both.

Proper pics to follow!

This thing feels glorious in the hand. I'd gues there is a good cm less vertical screen compared to the Note 3. The Note 3 feels less premium holding both side by side but tapping both with a nail the Note 3 sounds the most solid because everything is so tightly packed together. The Z3 sounds like it has some air space inside.

The camera lens has double AR coating, looks professional and the black finish on the whole phone itself isn't pure black but has a glint of purple / brown when you move it around in the light. The glass panels are AR coated as well by the looks of it but not to the same extent as the camera lens.

I'll have to have a proper play later as work needs doing at work :o

mrk you held a HTC One (m7) before and able t compare? Might just be my preference but its the best phone I've held, absolutely love the finish on it.

Going to pop into CPW later hopefully and have a look at the colours

Not the M7 but the M8 yes. I think the more brushed metal on the m8 feels more premium but it also feels bulkier and is heavier. I couldn't see myself owning a HTC with that kind of bulk really. I prefer the sleeker looks of this.

Any one got any good contract deals on this?

O2 are offering me £35 a on renewal with 5GB of data.

A comparison site has a listing for a vodafone offer with 4GB data for £35.50 a month but with Sky Sports/netflix/spotify for 6 months

Cheers, haven't held an m8 myself but they don't look bigger and not as pleasing as the m7 imo.

Mobiles.co.uk are doing the Z3 for £34.99 per month for 24 months with 500 mins unlimited texts and unlimited data. That's with T-Mobile.

Mine's coming on Monday.

Ha! Just to rub it in O2 text me to tell me my 4g is now active. All I have to do is make sure my 4g sim is in my 4g phone and it will be working. Bit of a problem there, O2...

Oh well, it's Friday and I'm off home now, trying to look on the bright side :)

Mobiles.co.uk doing unlimited O2 contract with 5GB of data for £33 a month and £60 for the handset but Quidco stands at £48 right now so almost cancels that out. I'm basically wanting a better battery and camera than my M7, and on the battery front this seems already brilliant so just waiting for few more reviews on the camera.

This thing is Sweet with a capital S. It's so smooth, the animations are really nice too. I said this a moment ago in a WhatsApp group but if I was to want a more ergonomic iPhone 5s feeling physical device (the materials/quality) running Android and with the latest hardware inside with a bigger screen then this would be it. I need time with it and Note 3side by side to see screen differences as I have yet to reconfigure homescreen/launcher etc so that will come tonight.

Oh discovered a few cool features out of the box too:

Map network drives out of the box!

mrk - what are your first impressions of the screen compared to the Note 3? Colours, brightness, sharpness, contrast...?

It looks really great. I won't be having one though, purely because of the empty space underneath the soft buttons. Shame that I care so much about that, as it sounds like a great phone, but for me, ergonomically that's a deal breaker.

Why do you want a hardware home button?

It's not a deal-breaker for me, but I agree that it would look much better without the huge bezel at the top and bottom - especially with the SONY text taking up that gap at the top, but nothing at the bottom.

However - maybe they needed that extra vertical space to fit stuff inside?
